the gf and I flew into to SLC and drove down to Moab for some mtn biking, hiking, rafting & car camping back at the end of May. i've been to moab previously but only to mtn bike, so visiting the parks in that area was a new experience.

    Tower of Babel, Arches NP

Balanced Rock, Arches NP. GF thrown in for scale

    Landscape Arch, Arches NP

Delicate Arch, Arches NP. this is the arch you see on Utah license plates

a little wildlife in Dead Horse Point SP

Kayenta campground, Dead Horse Point State Park (~6.5 minute exposure)

it's just an amazing area to visit. these pics don't convey the sense of vastness you experience when out there. hopefully next year we will visit the zion & bryce area in soutwest utah

Great pics, nice composition. Did you use a digital or film camera? Is that area accessible by car/SUV or did you have to mtn bike there from your campground?

thanks. they're digital (canon 1D mk II). most of the areas are accessible via car and a short hike, though a few require a hike of varing lengths (2 hours was our longest hike i think but most of them were in the 15-45 minute range to get to the viewpoints).

How do you like your Canon 1D mk II? I downgraded from my 35mm SLR to a Canon G5 digital camera. Now I want to upgrade to a digital SLR and this Canon 1D is one I've been looking at. What lenses do you have for it? Are they all compatible with the Canon 35mm SLR lenses, incl AF? thanks

love the mk II. had a D30 & 10D previously, but i needed more speed since i do a lot of motorsports photography & needed something that could handle a lot of continuous high frame rate shooting. Also needed good high ISO performance as well. the MK II is the pinnacle for both of these :)

all canon EF-mount lenses work 100% in any of canon's dSLRs, so if you have invested in some already, you're good. as for glass, this is what my biz partners and I have (we all shoot with MK II's so we borrow one another's lenses):
