So why did the SouthWest Forum get split into two?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
We do a lot of activities with the SoCal folks and now we have to look through two separate forums to find things out. I really like the SouthWest Forum the way is was, since I have a bunch of friends in both locations? We are a close nit group and this is just going to divide us.

Thoughts from other folks? Sorry to sound upset, but this is not a Forum/zine building kind of move in my humble opinion.

Yeah, it was always nice to go to one forum and check out what's going on in SoCal.

I think that this action was taken only because there is just so much traffic in the SW forum in general.

I doubt this will affect anything

We felt it was a good idea as the SW Forum was just getting so big. The posts were getting lost amongst each other and sometimes it was hard to tell who was posting for what and where.

Plus, we wanted to bring on a NorCal area Moderator, so the timing just all worked out.

The amount of enthusiasts in Cali has always been larger than most, and we really should have had two separate Forums to begin with, especially when 2.0 launched.

The split is good, too many norcal vs socal things. Now we both have homebases. So take your best shot sucky socal!!

yeah i don't think you need to split if you are concerned of bandwith... bandwidth is bandwith, same traffic going in and out .... but who am i to make the call.

i just thought that splitting the forums is like splitting us socal and norcal peeps from finding out what's going on in cali.

i.e. gtgs and meets involving both socal and norcal (which happens most of the time), now we have to post it on two forums, two different threads to keep track

anyways, all i know is boosted will still post in norcal all the time

Not about BW, it's about overall activity within one Forum.

    Can't please everyone...

But if this doesn't work, we can always switch back. Although I don't see how it couldn't work, both Regions are plenty active. SoCal has been much more so than NorCal lately though.

I actually think the decision was a good one. I think that most forums have to do this at sometime or another. As you grow, you have to expand the forum list so as to not lose track of posts. Even with a great search engine, its nice to take a quick glance at the most recent posts instead of having to figure out the socal posts.
