making a trunk out of flipflops would be a lot of work, not to mention impractical and useless unless you run a flipflop company of something...

<sigh> I was hoping that the first reply would give me some idea about what a flipflop trunk is so I wouldn't have to ask...

sooooo, what is a flip flop trunk

its a trunk that civics have a lot of times.

the trunk lid basically opens up but stays straight the way it would when its closed... so it flipflops in a sense. im pretty sure this is what he's talking about, ill try to find pics...

yes this is a rice mobile....however this is what I am talking about

It would look hot if you have a nice sub-setup in the trunk

and its not like this full time....it is the regular way unless you take out a pin for it to go like that....

I think this is a bad pic, as it doesn't look as good with this trunk (its overlapping the roof and sh!t) but its the idea...

Wow, Ive never seen anything like that before. Maybe Im out of the 'show car' loop but thats kinda neat. I think though, you will see it on cars like the Neon, Cavelier etc. because they have simple 2 arm mechanisms that swing up from under the trunk. More than likely, I could be wrong, but you wont see it on most German cars because of the multiple arms and dampers for the trunk lid. Quality engineering at its best I suppose.

I had the fliptop on my civic. I don't think you can do it with the a4 though, due to the way the trunk is mounted. I'll have to take a look when I get my car back. I probably wouldn't do it to an a4...but if you show your car, I guess its not a bad idea.

Is that an arc audio amp I see? Nice choice of amp!

And as far as the flip flop trunk, I think it's pretty neat, I had it on my Accord before my A4. However I don't think the A4 trunk assembly is easy to do like the Hondas. Hondas have the two swing arms and all you would need is a hinge but on A4s the trunk doesn't even operate with a swing arm, it operates on tiny shocks and I don't think it will work at all without major customization...but who knows...anything is possible but it's not easy on our cars. Incase you didn't notice...NOTHING is easy on our cars...upgrade turbo, tuning, ECU, intake..and such hehe

Uh, that's an...interesting...mod. I can see how it'd be a must for show cars and such, but other than that, why?

Please don't do that to the car. If you have a nice audio setup in the trunk without that I don't think anyone that matters would look at it and say, damn that would be way better with a "flip flop" trunk.

That would look great....if you had the spinners to go with it.

In other words, way too ghetto for me!
