It may be your speed sensor. Our cars, at least in 97, are equipt with a sort of speed alarm. Once you reach a cetain speed it will beep and go away. You can set it at whatever.

If this were the case it would beep every time you cross that certain spped that you've set it at.

Does the circle say MPH in the middle?

oh cool. Well time to change the breaks then.

    DIY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DIY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DIY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mintex redbox pads, some X-Drilled rotors, Slider/bearing grease, that sould be it if your car is an 01' and everything isn't all rusted to shit. You will save big $$$$$. The dealer is a total thief when it comes to breaks.

    .......it's a dirty game yo.

Ebay has lots of OEM owners manuals floating around. Bentley Publishers has them too but, they aren't the cheapest.

There have been some long technical discussions here and on Audiworld on this subject. Search! The way I read the debate was that drilled rotors are totally useless and slotted rotors have only marginal value for clearing dust. In short, for everyday driving, you don't need either.

Spend your money on better pads and/or bigger calipers.

I agree for the most part...except for one thing I did notice when I was runing sloted front rotors it made my wet braking much better.

Oh are you talking about that slight delay in breaking if it is wet out, and you haven't touched the breaks for a few minutes?

Yes exactly the slots seem to help evacuate the water from the surface of the rotor...so you get faster brake response in the rain.

I fixed the rain problem on mine. I bought a set of the revised brake disc shields from Audi:

    http://www.audiworld.com/tech/wheel31.shtml

    Works like a frikken charm.

I thought about doing that too but now that I did the A8 upgrade I'm not sure if they will fit or not.

They won't fit right now but, you could always dremel the lip off the end on the shields and at least cover most of the disc surface from splashes. There is also the plastic guards that attach to the belly pan. They are part # 8D0 698 998 A.

I bought the shields and the plastic guards from Impex for about $22 for both kits. I believe they were $11 ea.
