    Question Foglight Mod Problem....Help please

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Ok I did the foglight mod on Blacka4s car and my S4. We both seem to be having the same problem. Every once in a while when i start the car the foglights will be on. Sometimes it is the front sometimes it is the front and back. It doesn't matter if they are on before or after i shut off the car. It's weird. I;m thinkin maybe the solder is cracked and the on off of power is kicken them on when i start the car. I have no clue. But it also seems wierd that the solder would be cracked on both of these units. Have you guys experienced this at all. This would pertain to 99.5 and newer foglight mods.

    Thanks!

I think you for sure have an issue with the way it's wired. Recheck all those connctions. I've done a few of those and never had an issue.

make sure you clipped the pins as short as possible, and make sure you bridged the correct pins together.

did all of you guys mod the box by openning it up, or just by soldering a wire externally from one pin to the other?

that does happen to certain cars where the foglights will turn on and off when you first start the car.

time to say "get over it"

you should have read up on the mod first.

Yes that is the mod we are talking about. And yes I soldered these two externally. Let me check a few things. I will let you guys know what i find.

And yeah I will get over it if i try a few things and it still happens. It doesn't bother me except for the fact it makes me think i did something wrong.

I can't remember off hand. I think I clipped 3 and soldered 2 clipped and 1 unclipped together.

I modded mine and it does the same thing everonce and a while. I believe Foo's did the same thing also when he had a B5. I think it is just something that happens for whatever reason. I just turn them off when they are on.

As long as it's not gonna hurt anything, I'm fine with it. I just turn them off when I start the car.

But I did have a nasty dream last night of my Audi catching fire and burning to the ground....

I guess it is because the fog switches are the pulse type. The switches in the dash aren't on or off. They just send a signal when pushed in...and then return to the same position every time. So for some reason the jump of electricity when the car starts must have enough of a voltage to just barely trip the switch in the control module. close enough that sometimes it does it and sometimes it doesn't.

    Does that make sense.
