have mismatched paint on the bumpers...?

it seems as that is the case, as eveyone i see in pictures shows it...

you would think they could have gotten it a little closer...

no it's not a mismatch what you have is painting on different surfaces being metal vs plastic and curved surfaces make the paints look really bad particularly if you look at the rear bumper from the side and compare it to the rear 1/4 panel

yeah, i realize it's 2 different surface materials, but the door skins on the S4 are also plastic... are they the same on the A4...?

if they got the paint right on the doors, they could have gotten it right on the bumpers...

looking at the front 3/4 view really shows the difference as well...

door skins? the door skins are sheet metal but if you're referring to the door blades ie door wings then u see the apparent mismatch....it's really funny cuz i see it a lot as my buddy owns a paint shop...he hates painting light colored metallics because people will think it's not matched but it really is it's the eyes playing tricks on your etc

no, my door skins are plastic... no way is that sheetmetal... it makes a totally different sound when you tap on it...

it's different from the fenders...

Yeah it definitely is a mismatch. My back rear valence and the upper bumper are kind of off. Don't know if you can tell, but I hope this helps:

But... you can't tell from a far. Only under some sunlight and up close. For example:







Hope is helps, but jus to tell you, nothings perfect Even factory paint has a bit off.

i want you to do this...get a thin cloth and find a fridge magnet and go out to the door and put that magnet on the door if it sticks it's metal...i'm 99.9999999% sure it's sheet metal there's insulation etc in the doors so that's why the different sound

That's a wussy request. Have one of your Audizine 'special agents' located in that area cut out a 4x4" square and have it analyzed by the Audizine labs.
Quite possibly Audi was short on materials and it was a temporary fix while Audi was getting in some new metal and who knows what they used in there?!
We really do gotta know and it can't be left of to owner verification. Trust but verify.

it's true painting on a ABS plastic comes out a little darker all the time ... i'm having my kit painted right now at Angel Body and Paint in milpitas ca .. they work on audis for stevens creek audi and porche and there was an 05 a4 there that was silver and the paint on the bumpers were a little darker than the fender even though they used the same paint all over the car. It's odd to me as well

Yeah even though the pain code and everything matches, spraying on different materials always has a different outcome. But as I said before, nothing's perfect, and you can't really tell unless you're real up close to it under some lights.

I just painted my grey moldings silver... and they look a bit darker than the rest of the car... but when you get upclose to the car, its the same color... weird... but it is!!! overall, the car looks very nice... a little classier...
