First of all, it's a 2.0L engine versus 1.8L and the Mitsu is designated as the 4G63 with a Mitsubishi 16G turbo. Oh yea, it's also bigger than ours and they have a few more larger turbos that directly bolt onto this motor as well. The 16G turbo has 2 variations...the smaller one can make 350-375hp, the larger one (bigger compressor section) can make 400hp but at the expense of less boost at lower rpms.

16G... also a twin scroll, which allows for very fast spooling and decreases lag, but it is still present...

the A4 was not meant to do what the Evo does, hence the big separation in performance of the two...

you could always slap on a bigger turbo...

also, if they made the A4 with a larger turbo (stock) and higher boost...it'd be encroaching on S4 territory...

Get yourself one of those EVO turbos and toss it in your ride Gerald.

The real question is, why don't the WRX and EVO 4WD systems rob wheel HP as much as the Quattro system (is it really the 50/50 distro Quattro uses?).

Hmmm...I'm not sure about that dukez, the WRX stock has 227 and Turbo dynoed one at 171hp and they considered that high for a stock one. Usually they get only 164hp. Still not as bad as the Quattro but their AWD system is supposedly lighter.

that's not really accurate as Evo's were only dynoing at about 220ish stock... so they AWD system was robbing Hp... maybe not on the clip the Quattro does, but still more than a conventional 2WD system...

the Evo has a true 50/50 split as well as the STi, but the STi was selectable up to 70/30 i beleive...
