Could I get that drop with grooved bilsteins and H&R sport...or would i need race? I keep hearing great things about vogtland...but do they give the drop i want? I have bilsteins and eibachs on my a4 and it is way to soft but gave me a good drop. Also...i have an S4 avant so i think the spring rates are higher in the rear on most setups because of this. It makes it much harder to find a used setup. It is my daily driver but i may take it to the track a few times to see how it does. Thinking about getting a nuespeed rear bar too.
Hey Ben,
For your B5 cars I would highly recommend the STaSIS Street Sport coilovers(on special this month for $950--and you receive a free STaSIS shirt);
STaSIS Street Sport Koni Coilover Kit for B5 A4/S4; 4 KONI sport dampers; single adjustable (rebound), narrow band; suspension disassembly required for adjustment; cadmium plated threaded steel damper bodies; height adjustable; 4 progressive rate KONI springs (400 lb. spring rate); balanced and adjusted on SPA damper dynamometer.
These are not the same as the off-the-shelf Koni coilovers as STaSIS puts the dampers on their shock dyno, matches the set, sets the damping for optimum ride/handling, sets the spring perch heights, and also includes easy-to-follow instructions.
From installing numerous kits on B5s with 17s, we know that if you want the suspension to go really low, this setup will allow you to tuck the tire under the fenderwell(of course for optimum handling on a B5 we suggest lowering the vehicle about 1.25-1.4").
For the price, this STaSIS Street Sport kit can't be beat; ride height adjustability, rebound adjustability, ability to go low if you want, great ride/handling.....all for $950.
If you're going to be tracking one of the vehicles more than a few times a year then I'd recommend STaSIS's Track Sport coilovers;
STaSIS Single Adjustable Coil Over Kit for A4/S4; 4 STaSIS custom-valved KONI dampers; double digressive damping; single adjustable (rebound), wide band; adjustable while installed on vehicle; cadmium plated threaded steel damper bodies; height adjustable; 4 STaSIS custom lower spring perches; 2 STaSIS custom upper rear spring perches; 4 linear rate Hyperco springs; 450 lb. to 1000 lb. spring rates; balanced and adjusted on SPA damper dynamometer
$1995
This kit is a very customized kit based on how you want the car to ride/handle---so by talking with us about your plans with the car we can have the suspension set up accordingly.
Regarding the rear Neuspeed 19mm bar, I'd recommend installing a great suspension first and then seeing if you think the car is still pushing a bit. Most of our customers with the STaSIS Track Sport kits have had a Neuspeed rear bar on before the TS kit, then after fitting the kit decide that the rear bar isn't necessary.
I hope that helps a bit. If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to contact me.
Also, please keep in mind that we have no sales tax in Oregon so that means considerable savings on big purchases.
Best regards,
Jeremy
