Question APR Stage 1 vs. APR Stage 2

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I know its a free upgrade, but is it really worth it? For me the drive is about 2.5 hours. Right now I just have the Stage 1 flash on 93 octane. Not to long after I got chipped I put in an intake, testpipe, downpipe, and awe exhaust. Is it worth the drive to get flashed to Stage 2? Will I feel a difference? your input would be appriciated.

Re: APR Stage 1 vs. APR Stage 2

Isn't Stage 2 = Test pipe, Intake, Exhaust?

Isn't flashing to Stage 2 just delte the CEL that occurs when u put test pipe on?

Correct me if I am wrong

Originally I thought the same thing. But then I read on here that there is a difference in power so i called APR to find out myself. Im not sure who I spoke with there but they said that there is a difference in power...I just want to know if the difference in power is worth the 2.5hour drive...

Re: APR Stage 1 vs. APR Stage 2

Stage 2 flash is only a CEL delete flash you get when you run a TP.

You will get more power by adding an intake, TP and exhaust to you stage 1 flash, some people call this stage 2.

There is no stage 2 flash like there is with the GTI for audi.

I was told that stage 2 will modify a little the curves on the re-flash. I might be wrong but that was the info i got for the Revo Chip. Don't know about APR.

Re: APR Stage 1 vs. APR Stage 2

Stage II is a more aggressive file, and it deletes the CEL. yes its free from APR but some shops will charge $50 for labor. I had everything done at once so I'm not sure what its like to have a testpipe and no STG II file. I would say get it b/c it'll make your car a little faster and it doesn't cost much.

Re: APR Stage 1 vs. APR Stage 2

Stage 2 programs get rid of the CEL. For some companies, they will modify stage 2 a bit to pull back some of the power that would cause fuel cut. For example if your stage 1 is optimized to put you right on the edge of fuel cut, adding a testpipe and exhaust may put you over that hump so some companies have a file that can tailor your boost, timing, etc to these mods so you do not get fuel cut. If you are running well and the CEL doesnt bother you than you can probably wait just fine with the A4 software. The APR stage 2 stuff does run very nice with exhaust and testpipe though. It runs a higher fuel pressue (maybe their stage 1 does too) and it takes you right up to the edge of fuel limitations, but so does stage 1 so if you arent havinvg a problem i wouldnt worry too much about needing it now versus waiting a bit. As always, contact Keith directly at APR to verify my information isnt old. That's the beauty of APR though. You can call them directly.

    cheers! Mike
