    What are my chances

After inquiring here and searching on AW, I'm convinced the noise my cars is making is the cam tensioner.

My question is have any of you had warranty work done after your warranty was over for problems that you brought up before your warranty was over but techs couldn't reproduce.

On my last service under warranty(5000km ago) my fiance, who brought in the car because I couldn't, told them about a vibrating/grinding sound at start-up and during acceleration. The techs told her they couldn't reproduce the sound.

The sound has since gotten slightly louder and I was going to change the cam-tensioner after concluding that's what it is. Before I go out and buy the parts, I just wanted to know if anyone thinks I have a chance of getting the dealership to do it, seeing as how I brought it up while still under warranty.

p.s. The claim is doccumented on the invoice I got during that service.

talk to a manager if the same shop diagnosis the problem as being the cam tensioner. Tell the manager you have reason to believe that it wasn't diagnosis because it was still under warranty and that it was about to expire and now that the sound has gotten worse and is out of warranty the problem has been found. You would like them to rectify the problem since this isn't a new problem that existed after the warrenty was up it was an old problem that was brought to there attention when you still had warranty and wish not to pay out of pocket.

Yeah, that was pretty much my plan. I was going to go in and not say anything about the problem bieng there earlier, wait for them to diagnose it (and pay whatever fee I have to pay for that), then bring up the whole thing about me having the same problem earlier and the techs "not bieng able to reproduce it".

Anyone who has had the cam tensioner done at the stealership, what did you pay?
