    That's a respectable first time :-)

Once you get your 0-60 time down you will nail it!

Question for anyone who can answer me, I stopped taking the b7 to the strip, launching is way to hard on the car, not to mention my third gear syncro issue comes back everytime I do :-(

But every single fucking time I try to hard launch my car, I DUMP boost.... The car acts like its about to
Break your neck, I chirp the tires like they want to let loose, but then before the car moves a foot... "whoosh" and i can hear my DV dump all the boost, and the car starts out rolling and is very uneventful until 3krpms comes in first :-/

I have the stiffest spring in my DV 30lb spring, I originally had the 15lb and I switched thinking it
    Would
    Help... No change....

Anyways I just wanted to see if your guys K03s dump boost on launch. I've tried 4k launch, 5k, 5500, 6500, and 7k launch....
The car will break the tires loose of say I'm rolling at 5mph and I drop the clutch... Then the car just "bwaaaa bwaaaa bwaaa pop pop bwaaaa *substitute two step machine gun firing sound* not
    Ricey at all lol.....

    Anyone lmao

Shane, theres no reason for you to lose boost as long as the engine remains under load. That sounds like a tuning issue, or traction control. Lol.

    Yeah most
Likely traction control sensing wheel spin and doing
That thing where it cuts fuel to
    The motor :-(

    WTF do
    I have to
    Do to turn it
Off so that no longer happens? It makes Quattro BAT setups look bad compared to the lower rpm spooling KO3
    I know
I always preach lag is relative to gearing, but
On a dragstrip you still need to start at 700RPMs if you can't launch :-/ my car looks dumb sounding like a two step
    Monster, then when the
Light hits my car just bogs and looks N/A till I hit 3k RPMs haha

Exactly. Clutch slippage! You might want to upgrade that before your next track day.

I want to practice my launches, but it just scares me to do it too much to get it right. And I sure as hell don't want to practice at the track and look like a noob!

launched (really launched, like slid my foot to the left and let the clutch pop from 3-3.5k) my car a couple times on stock clutch haha... VERY neck-breaking lmao. didn't think our cars had that much jerk off the line (delta acceleration)

i probably still won't launch the car once everything's done... just b/c it is so rigorous on the entire system ha, but i would be interested to see how fast i could get my 1/4m time by softly getting into gear and getting on the gas ha

I already started looking at clutch kits!

Edit: Maybe that's why my times with my b7 are bad. Clutch kept slipping.

Good luck with that. Gonna be pretty hard to prove it was a defective clutch, since it is a wearable part. Although, that's pretty low milage. You should be able to get 100 k (miles) out of it. It's just not meant for launching. If you stop drag racing your car, the clutch will probably be good for a long time still. But if you don't, it'll be toasty.

Well finally had time to go back to the drag strip & track. (2nd time at drag)

    Pissed off.
Drag after 25 runs my best time was 14.9 :O WTF. With stock clutch I was able to get 14.742 ( first time I went)
I noticed when I floor it and try to shift into second & third it's very difficult. I have to force really hard to get it in.. compared to just sliding it in when cruising or casually flooring it. Also when in gear it is able to wiggle alot.
I have a JHM Short shifter

Will the Linkage upgrade & busing stabilizer help from JHM?

Most people also don't want to get into a drag clutch on their cars. Without one it's going to be harder to get those lower times. Not to mention our cars really aren't at their best in a straight line. Corners are where we win the race.

A good clutch will only get you so far. You can not turn the traction control ALL the way off. (And don't chime in with the "push and hold the button thing". It is still not completely off). Bottom line, you can make these cars fast pretty easily. Launching them good or great is nearly impossible. I have only seen a few good 60' times in 6 years. I can run low to mid 13's consistently with a soft launch (2.2-2.4 60'). I pulled better 60 ft times with my stock RX8 (170 lb/tq).
Now from a 5-10mph+ roll (where 300+ fwd and rwd cars still have traction issues) it is a piece of cake with A4 + Quattro.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not bitter and I'm not saying that good 1/4 times can't be made. I'm just annoyed that you can't turn traction control all the way off, which would let these cars launch like (almost like) RS4's, Evo's, STI's.

Yeah, the only good way I have found to launch on dry pavement, is to slip the clutch really hard. No way around it that I see.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not bitter and I'm not saying that good 1/4 times can't be made. I'm just annoyed that you can't turn traction control all the way off, which would let these cars launch like (almost like) RS4's, Evo's, STI's.
Get yourself an euro A4 ;)

Last night ran 1/8 mile at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego. I have a 2.0T Quattro TIP with Apr stg2+. Best time out of 4 runs was 9.414. Here's a break down of my runs for anyone interested:

    Winner of Left:
    1: M3: 9.525, Me: 9.776
    2: Me: 9.452, SRT4: 9.631
    3: Mustang GT: 8.253, Me: 9.554
    4: Grand Nat: 8.738, Me: 9.414

Interesting thing was the 60ft mark I beat each car. This was my first time attempting to drag race so I honestly had no idea how to excel. I didn't even know how to burn out on my car, or even if a quattro can really do a burn out. But this is a good baseline to continue to improve and after a turbo upgrade I'm sure the A4 will be a good contender on the strip. And my car was definitely the prettiest one there.

Thanks, however, that was the first time I felt my car was slow. Driving it around with no reference to except for the daily commute it feels extremely fast, but I got dominated by a mustang which cuts me deep. I also had no idea how to drag race since that was my first time there, I've been doing some reading since. Apparently me driving through the water box is a no no, and I shouldn't even attempt a burnout since I'm AWD. My goal is to get into the low 8's after I install FMIC, water/meth, and upgrade my turbo.

Yeh, launching a TIP is no easy feat. Just be sure not to do it too often!

    I know
I always preach lag is relative to gearing, but
On a dragstrip you still need to start at 700RPMs if you can't launch :-/ my car looks dumb sounding like a two step
    Monster, then when the
Light hits my car just bogs and looks N/A till I hit 3k RPMs haha
Old post but a couple years ago "a friend" was messing around on a time trials course in the snow and wanted to see how it handled with the ESP fully off. Noticed that in consecutive wheel spinning on the ice skid pad that the engine would cut back power till it bogged pretty hard. Unplugged I believe the ABS module fuse and it shut EVERYTHING off (traction control, abs, ESP, engine cut). The car's dash lit up like a Christmas tree but drove normally (no limp mode or anything). In the snow it would excessively spin on front and one rear (one with least resistance) and handled like crap. With the ESP function in tact (even in the partial "off" position) the car handled much better. I imagine with a quaife or wavetrac LSD in the rear would fix this completely. Doing this for the street would be pretty stupid though (no ABS at the minimum...)

Tool My front track A4 APR stage 2 to qualcomm 2 weekends ago. destroyed the stock 115KMi clutch on the first pass. ran a 10.4 with 1st 2nd only.

Now have a DXD stage 3 daily clutch. Kinda wanna try it again but it will be a while.

Blah blah excuses excuses. Plus theres not really such thing as a "drag clutch" for these things anyway

Go to APR's website and go to the B7 a4 and in the clutchs there they go all the way up to stage 4 and in the stage 3 clutchs they have 3 different series of them from daily to drag.
