    Q about GT28RS

If I were to get the kit and run it at really low levels of boost, could I use it on my stock tranny or no...

To fill some of you in, this is my dream kit, but I have the hurdle that I'm an auto... so I have to get the Tranny beefed up by level10 to be able to handle it, so my q is... would I be able to have it on a stock tranny if I ran very low levels of boost or no?

Also... is there a difference btwn when they tune a chip for an automatic or a manual?

I'm far away from a kit like this, but I'm curious...

You need to get a high hp GIAC tip chip. It'll limit the power in first and second gear, but when you get into third you will be a HWYKILA ;p

At least that's how I think it works.

I've got a tiptronic too, so don't feel bad. I'm planning on going tee twenty eight :)

I thought about T28... but everybody said it's shit. But than again, every turbo kit for the B6 is supposedly shit...

As far as I recollect there's no options of a TipChip on a B6. I may be wrong tho...

How do you plan on making your tranny handle the big turbo, and how exactly does a TipChip help make the tranny more stable???

Your biggest probelm is gogin to be the tourque. The tip chip i beleive changes the amoutn of fluid in the tranny to help shift smoother, I could be very wrong thought. If you run the GT28RS at low boost you migth be able to get away with it, not sure though.

I'm not sure what the torque specs would be on the B6 Trannys... but I will say that even with a Level10 upgrade it does not consist of a new valve body which is the main point of failure on auto trannys....
So you can have everything else upgraded but failure to replace the valve body will render the auto useless.

I think they actually replace the valve body and torque convertor when I called...

That's interesting... I've never heard that from them previously. And I know people that have gotten their B5 trannys done.

Ill call and ask, don't quote me, I may be wrong... but I'm pretty sure that's what they said.

If they don't do the valve body, it's useless tho, huh?

I kinda don't understand because they still warranty it for 350whp or something like that, right? So obviously it should hold...

Also, I need to remember to ask what torque it can handle. If I'm putting out 325whp lets say, how much torque will I be running, anyone know?

why would i be selling roasted tranny fluid???

btw. i was told that if i hook up my wastegate up to a boost source and run it like that, id be fine in terms of my stock tranny holding up, or even if i got a boost control and set boost conservatively...

if you have a tip, don't do it.

ask cable about his t25 or whatever tip.
Big truck, a station wagon and a Mammoth place. Nothing too fancy.

I'm going to do my own setup, if I can find out about my tip handling it.

the GT28 is a T28 turbo, different spindle iirc... I could ask my dad for the specific differences.

as far as power, the A4 tip won't handle it properly, it'll work, but you'll prbly end up needing to replace it sooner than not.

But, the 2.8 Tip tranny or the S4 tip tranny would be fine, so you could, in theory swap at some point.

eitherway, DEFINITLY chip your tip if your gunna get a bigger turbo or run a chipped ECU on the k03.

I've heard tons of tip cars handling fine w/ chip...

even w/ K04's or E05's, just never heard one run a T28 or GT28RS ok... but in the same case, I've never really heard a manual run the later either...
