How hard would it be to do Twin Turbo 1.8t or a 2.7T transplant into a 1.8t... I was just wondering about this tonite while staring at my buddies turbo...

I always wondered if it would be possible to do a sequential K03 on the 1.8T, but it seems like the plumbing would be too ridiculous to be worth it...unless maybe you put the other turbo where the SMIC is?

Anyway, I've heard the 2.7T into an A4 is more work than it's really worth...unless you get the other engine for free (then maybe...)

I was just thinking, cause nobody has ever done dual turbo's... I'm not sure exactly how the setup would look, but there is a little room to spare above where the cat is and down by the SMIC and if you mess w/ the airbox, etc. Maybe take it out and figure out how to put something else...

Anybody ever hear of piggybacking turbos??? Some guy I was talking to talked about it... I was wondernig if it's possible or even worth it.

dual turbos arent worth the time or effort...

look at all the dual/sequential cars.. they all upgrade to single turbos for more power... look ath the power the KTR s4 makes...

then you have all the extra plumbing, wastegates, oil feed, and coolant lines to deal with...

single turbos upgrades are just more effective in so many ways...

Im not saying it cans be done, just that its not really cost efective given final outcome... single big turbo car will probably outperform a small dual setup

But with the sequential set-ups you have less lag considering one is boosting at low rpms and another is boosting into the higher rpms...besides that I think youre correct teknik

A twin turbo on the 1.8T is not worth it casue you will only have two cylinders t spool a turbo. It could not be that big of a turbo, not the KO3 it would have to be smaller. A 2.7T takes a while to do casue you also need the tranny and rear diff for it to be complete and run right.

    Well scratch both those ideas...

I heard things about the GT28RS requiring you to file the engine block or having to cut or move something because it's too big to fit in...

Well if you ran a sequential setup, it would still be all of the flow spooling whichever turbo. A parallel setup would have you boosting 2 or 3 bar with pitiful cfms which is quite useless in this application. I will never consider running a turbocharger off of 2 cylinders again. The power pulses just make everything difficult. Any way you look at it, not so good.
