    Re: Ask Detailer's Domain

Can you put together a master kit of products you feel are a must have, or the best you have used. Dont factor in prices.

    APC
    Clay (mild and aggressive)
    Soap (for maintaining a car)
    Wheel cleaner/ protectant
    Polishes
    Metal Polishes
    Buffer
Interior/ Exterior plastic, vinyl, rubber dressing
    Interior plastic, vinyl cleaner
    Leather cleaners, conditioners
    Sealant
    Wax

Sure by now you should know I love Sonax Wheel Cleaner

Also I would add Lusso Autobath as a car wash
    For a compound I would use Meg's M105

Hmmm what else...Menzerna Power Lock for sealant
    Swissvax Pneu for tires etc.

There are so many things now that its hard to list.....

Haha, yep, trying to learn as much as I can. You got my stuff shipped out 15 min after I ordered, awesome! I think Ive got about 3 boxes from you sitting at home waiting for me.

Have you had much experience with the Einszett polishes? I heard they are similar to Menzerna.

    SIP vs Power Gloss

heard people telling me to use power gloss instead of SIP. Power Gloss seems to be more of a compound than a polish to me. I already have Optimum compound.. and used it 3 times during the summer for spot correction.. nothing else.

    TIA

    Re: Ask Detailer's Domain

Powergloss is a pretty aggressive compound. Shouldnt use it unless SIP isnt strong enough.

    Dan,

the paint rubber is about 100 grams.

3.0 Rider, Power Gloss is a compound. Power Gloss is a little more aggressive than Optimum Compound.

    Re: Ask Detailer's Domain

    Phil,
When applying the Glanz wax...do i need to strip what wax is on there...this may sound like a stupid question but my girl just bought a new Mazda 3 and the dealer said something about a special coating on the paint? I know they waxed it but I want to make sure he just wasnt talking about some snake oil. Anyway is it ok to strip that wax and apply the glanz over what ever type of clear or whatever he may have been referring too?

    Re: Ask Detailer's Domain

You can strip it via claying or some type of paint cleaner. Im sure you can apply Glanz via PC. I like to apply LSP's via foam applicator by hand. 1z says you should only apply 1 coat of Glanz.

what kit is that? if you are looking to keep it simple, and not worry about messing up the proccess, Adams is a great choice.

There is a DVD that comes with it, it is pretty informative.

    but here we go..

leather conditioner = just a leather conditioner , not a cleaner
    glass cleaner = pretty obvious
VRT = Vinyl/Rubber Protectant.. however VRT has a matte finish, it doesn't look shiny.

Swirl & Haze remover = Fine cut cleaner
revive polish = deep crystal polish
Buttery Wax = deep crystal carnauba wax
    Detail Spray = Quik Detail

and then just a jar of clay.

Phil, I'm going to try out the LC Pads, as I'm not to happy with the Edge pads. After going through the DB forum, I see most guys use Wool Pads as well. Since Im a fairly new Detailer, are there any difficulties when using Wool vs. Foam Pads? What are the Benefits?

I have a 2005 (B6) Black S4. What would be the recommended pre-wax polish for this car. I have a PC and was planning on using a white CCS pad to do the pre-wax polish. I've been considering Menzerna 85RD or the PO106FF but I'm confused about which to use with my paint. Are there other recommended alternatives? I was going to finish with 1Z Glanz Wax

Wool pads can add buffer trails but you can always clean them up with foam pads.

My choice would be stick with the foam first, we now have 5.5 inch pads.

Not the dash 'per say'... but the center console, radio buttons etc. They are peeling (for lack of a better description).

armor-all is not a good product as you can tell by how it ate thru your center console.
