    Phil,

Any recommendation on what to use on the rubber window trim on the outside. I bought my 06 A4 Avant used and the old owner obviously neglected it. It looks like it has some sort of disease :) It's got some funky spots on it and looks pretty bad.

    Thanks

Help me out here Phil.. Maybe i am old school but i have always used a DeWalt849 buffer with a mixture of wool pads for compounding and then foam pads for polishing, then an orbital for waxing. Am i missing out on this Porter Cable 7424XP band wagon? If i am used to using my DeWalt will purchasing one of these benefit me at all??? Thank you... Oh and i use menzerna products usually finished up with meguirs nxt 2.0 wax

    Re: Ask Detailer's Domain

you mean the overlay ones or sprayed ones.

    no on the overlay ones.

sprayed ones from the inside you should be able to , if they are sprayed on the outside you may take the paint off if it was not cleared coated.

    Hey Phil,

What are you using on your S4 dash or what do you recommend using on the B8's dash to clean and protect it? Also, i'm not a fan of products that leave shiny/oily looking coats on the interior. Thanks

Hey Phil. Do you have any suggestions for a novice when correcting silver paint? My Audi is Light Metallic Silver. And it is so freaking hard to get good light on the paint to see what correction work I am or am not doing.

Also, what LSP products do you suggestion for silver metallic?

    Re: Ask Detailer's Domain

do you have a porter cable or orbital polisher?

it would be much easier to do it by orbital polisher over hand.

    Re: Ask Detailer's Domain

Yeah I think I worded my question wrong;) I have a Flex 3401 and a PC. What I am trying to ask, is if you have a suggestion on what type of light to use to see swirls on a silver car?

It's tough, as if you cannot see the swirls, then why correct? But on a silver car if you don't prep really well, then no LSP really works well.

    Phil

I install insulation for a living. the moneys great but the dustiness of the job sucks. What would you recommend to keep the dust from sticking everywhere? I can change clothes inside of the office and get into my car and the fiberglass dust or just dust in general from my head or hands, will instantly stick to the car in every crease you can think of. It takes me hours to get off, then the black magic oem shine stuff i've been using, just makes it stick right back.

Also, what are some good working brushes for the inside? I've borrowed some interior brushes from a buddy, but they seem to just brush over the dust and that is it.

The swissvax pneu brush is good for the interior the swissvax detail brush is good.

I have never had a car come in with fiberglass all over.

Are you using the black magic inside the car? doesn't that stuff have a ton of gloss on it, I would say for the interior use einszett Cockpit and maybe carry a few microfibers with you so you can wipe the dust off.

what are you currently using for wax?

if you plan on washing/claying/then polishing your car it should strip the wax off.

I currently just have Adams Buttery on for the winter months.

So there's no need to strip it before a full detail (wash/clay/polish)?

The stuff I am using as a natural sheen to it. It has no shine, it doesn't feel oily or tacky, but as soon as i apply it, a day later after work, it acts like glue and shit sticks to it BAD.

I'll give those a shot and see what happens.

its fiberglass dust i'd say.. not full strains, but looks like regular dust, but I know its from work.

I have a 2004 S4 and the roof feels rough compared to the rest of the car. What can I use to fix this by hand with no buffer? Also I use and love Collinite 850 boat and plane wax. This seems to work great for me but not sure what the previous owner used. Is there anything you recomend me to use with this wax? Thansk

sure you will have to clay the car then polish then wax it.

clay will remove the debris and contaminants.

Silver and is in great condition. The roof is just rough while everthing else is nice and smooth. I have a couple little chips on the front quarter panels and some swirl marks but it is very difficult to see because of the color

Thank you very much Phil. One last question, can I still use my Collinite 885 fleet wax ( i mentioned the wrong was earlier) on top of the einszett Glanz or should I just use the two products you mentioned above and stop using the 885? This is my last question sorry, I am new at this:)

phil, got my 7424xp with m105 and m205, here is my question I am trying to correct my bmw x3 and 00 s4 they are very swirly see pic below. As you can see after two passes with the m105 and one with the m205, I got 80% of it cleared up. Is there a better way to get 90 95% of the cars corrected. thanks
