Revo freeware...any idea how it works?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
This is a screen shot of Revo's freeware program. I downloaded it several months ago but I have no idea how to use it. It supposedly lets you set engine oerating parameters even outside safe operating conditions. There are several items that are obvious such as idle speed offset, etc.

Anybody have any idea what the other stuff is? (specially the stuff that is related to boost, timing, etc)?

Call David at Ecode or Anthony at GS, they both use it, I'm sure they could give you a quick tutorial. There's nothing on Revo's site?

Ahh...if these ppl use it I guess it's the real deal...I'll check Revo's website again but Í haven't been able to find any reference there to this little program. I guess it's sort of semi-underground stuff.

jeeezz Mike is there ANY information on tuning you haven't gotten your hands into?...do you spend 23.5 hours a day looking for this stuff?

But seriously, thanks for the link. It's exactly what I was looking for.

No Really? I'm gonna download Lemmiwinks tonight, see what's up with it.

Mike what rims are you running? The one's I saw in the dyno weren't your stockers? BTW, good talking to you last night Bro, don't worry, your story on Alligator Alley is safe with me.

    Best,

    Drew

    Hey Drew,
Thanks for keeping my slightly unprofessional driving habits under wraps :) Good talking to you as well. I'm running speedline 2210s in the 18x8.5" et32 fitment. I like them alot. they have a nice little lip but can clear any BBK on the market. Downside is that they weigh in at about 25lbs a piece. cheers! Mike

Duh, it was in your sig! I'm an idiot! Thanks for the pic, they look very nice, I hear ya 25lbs is kinda much for 18's, still not horrible. I'm running the OZ's the weigh in around 18 lbs or so. You thought about 19's at all? How much do you think LW 19's would affect performance? Sorry to thread jack T-Blur!

19s look nice but i wouldnt consider them for performance. Even 17s are probably the best for racing, but I like the look of the 18s. I love the OZ SLs and plan on getting them. Just a bit short on the cash flow right now. I just dropped some coin on a little secret project for my car. Ill keep you informed as things move along. Cheers! mike

Hmm.. anyone know if LemmiWorks works with the -USB adapters from VAG-COM? In the top left of the LemmiWorks.exe it lists Com Port, but the -USB interfaces don't emulate a COM port. I wonder if this will only work with *-COM connectors.

    Mike,

I may sell my OZ's, I have a couple people interested, let me know if you are. 19's just look so damn good, I'm FWD it won't slow me down as much as it does you Quattro boys, but wheel spin will still be a major bitch. After my best friend bought the M3 and another buddy at work did as well, the 19" club may be getting a new member.

Oh and yeah keep me posted on the secret project, you got my #.

    Alex,

David ran those 17" SSR's they do help performance wise but I was never crazy about the look of 17's, and who the hell would run 16's.

no you do not, but you do need the cable (the serial version). I would highly recommend vagcom, however, because that would be the best way to see what changes would benefit your car. cheers! Mike

Technically if I get Lemmiwinks and this Revo freeware, I can in a sense chip my own car w/o paying someone if I have a vagcom???

Good idea, you should keep those rims, they look awesome. I may but I'm still gonna try and save some money and find used ones, the Stage 3 is gonna cost some cash and I have a little boy on the way! So I gotta start spending wisely. Know anyone with some 19's?

my neighbor is selling his kinesis for super cheap. it's on a benz though, same bolt pattern 5x112. the only problem is the offset. if you want i can check if it would work on an audi. their brand new and i could probably get it to you for cheaper. the color is anodized gunmetal.

btw i dont think the program will work on a stock chip. you need to have the software to handle the adjustable maps for you to be able to adjust the settings. so revo tuning program with revo's chip, giacs tuning program with giac's chip, etc

I'm really set on HRE's or maybe Iforged. I may start a thread since I hijacked T-blur's, sorry man. Let me know Gerard. How's the car running BTW?

    Alex,

You're too much Bro, I told you to stop it with the spinner idea, it's too much weight. Is the BOV in yet? You're lucky I sold so cheap.

Lemmiwinks will work with any chip. And to answer enjoiweb's question about it being like having a free chip, unfortunately it's not that easy. Youll notice there is no boost adjustment on Lemmiwinks. There is a reason for that. It is more of a tweaking tool than a basic tuning tool. It acts a a supportive software to fine tune those cars that need it. I have found no need to use it yet as my software is running well within normal limits. Other tuners use it to fix software problems or gain a bit of better performance out of it. cheers! mike

    Leonard,

I believe Lemmiwinks works off a RS232 COM interface. I have a USB emulator that emulates a RS232 COM port to your COM 1-4 ports. Ask Uwe at Ross Tech, he will send it to you.

Does GIAC have any software available that will help get rid of my 02 sensor CEL???

And can I use that GIAC Mobile tuner thing on a stock chip?

Are there any benefits at all from a VAGCOM... besides just being able to change light or cluster display stuff. etc.?

Let's all remember that Lemmiwinks is just a freeware program floating around the internet and both Revo's SPS devices and GIACs mobile tuners are brand specific devices that are sold as an add on to the persons set-up.

With regards to Vagcom, it can be an INCREDIBLY useful tool. Its job is not to actually fine tuner the care but to DIAGNOSE what may need to be tuned. You cant have one without the other. This is one of the reasons these tuning devices like the sps3 and the mobile tuner can be dagerous in the wrong hands. Never should someone be making timing adjustments, boost adjustments, or fuel trim adjustments without actually seein what their current values are and if the car may actually be benefitted by these adjustment or be harmed by them. For example, adding timing to a car that is already retarding upwards of 12-15 degrees is going to give you nothing but problems. Adding fuel to a car already running negative Lambda values would likewise result in poorer performance.

    Cheers! Mike

I don't think so. I've heard about a simulator thingy that you can hook up and it'll send the ecu a "normal" signal -- so no light.

Each software manufacturer's "tuning" features work only with their particular software. REVO has sps3, GIAC has mobile tuner, etc.

If you know were to look you can diagnose how your chip is doing and it it's tuned to peak efficiency.
