poll time!!!!

alright it's been in my head ever since i've bought the car in late 2001. been toying with the idea, finacially and mentally. almost came pretty close to pulling the trigger, but plans changed finacially. that and the fact tuners said it could be done but no one had done it.

by now your probably wondering what the hell i'm talking about. well i'm babbling about 2.7t conversion. well to be more specific, the rs4 engine conversion. i might be migrating jobs, which will allow me be closer to my home and supply me with enough funds to do this. now my question is...(drumroll pls....)

how many of you out there would pull the trigger on a project like this..?

hmmmmmmmm.....i dunno about that man. even the b5 s4s dont really reach 420whp without some serious turbo mods.

i say do it. and be the first as long as you know what its gonna cost and you are ok with it. no one is gonna tell you what to do with your money... only you can do that.. however if i had a b6, and the means.. i'd do it.

having the b6 was the motivation. new body, 2.7t...oy vey.

i was kidding about the 420whp...sort of. not so bad when you start with the rs4 engine block though. i'd seriouly be happy with 300whp though; that and maintaining everyday drivability.

yanno, for the money you'll probably spend making this work, you might as well buy one of the B5 S4's in the For Sale Forum. a lot less hassle and you won't be down with your A4 for such a long period of time.

yeah i know, i had a choice between the two but sitting in both, b6 interior is so much more livable. this way it's best of both worlds.

steve trust me i know every car i wanted to have when i could drive i now have owned...MkII GTi, Civic HB, Audi B5, Audi B6, Truck and some other incidental cars along the way...just dont go over board because you know you will not get back what you put into it.

i say go for it. yes its going to cost a good amount of money but for some reason audi owners hate to shell out $$ for the mods. honda guys will spend 3-5k easy for an engine swap while very few audi owners will spend even 2k for a turbo upgrade. i dont care what anybody else thinks. if you're ready for the amount work, frustration, headache, downtime, and ultimately happiness from this sort of thing, i say go all out. cant be meek or passive about this kinda stuff.

I think us Audi drivers don't like shelling out for the upgrades because we got more sense in us. Sure we drive a more "upscale" car but still, we need to be responsible with our money. Gotta buy stuff that make sence finacially. Sure you see those Honda guys put in like $5k at a time but they are still driving a Honda. When they hit the bottom of the pit, they will realize that they could be living quite lavishly in a good home instead of a damn shack and still driving a Honda.

yes wise words, but if i go through with this, it's gonna stay in the stable till it dies.

this isn't the most sensibile mod, but if abt sold 25 limited edition b6's with 2.7t's, it can be done for sure. iirc, ithe engine clips in, the harness being the nightmare.

i guess i'll be riding a bike for the time being. job relocation helps big time. i'll be a couple miles away from work. i'm expecting couple months of down time. **hopefully**

Probably one reson for that is the Honda cost at least half as much as the Audi. Extra $$ to spend, to make it go fast.

As long as you are not spending every penny you have on it why not? That is if you already own a home etc. and you will keep it for a while.
