ticking sound...

When I'm idle in either drive or reverse, I hear a ticking sound and it's only there once in a while. Not exactly sure where it's coming from, but sounds like it's from the engine area. When I put it in park or neutral, the sound is gone. Any ideas what it may be?

Mine was making that sound just before it snapped the cam-chain tensioner and blew the engine. I'd get it checked out if I were you.

it is by your intake. turn your car on and listen by your intake area. i forgot what the part is called but i know what it looks like. if it anoys you its like a cheap part you can buy and put in. i think that is the sound your hearing. just put your head by your intake and see if you hear it there.

That would be pretty hard to do considering he said the tick only happens when he's driving. If you do end up doing this, I want pics... or video!

actually it only happens when it's idle in reverse or drive. I dont' hear it when the cars moving. I should've been more clear on that.

just check what i told you to do and see if it is it, if it is its a cheap part,
