    ECU Upgrade only through OBD2?

    Hello,

Sorry for the newb question. I did do a lot of searching and am still confused.

    1. With those new OBD2 ECU flash boxes offered by several companies like REVO is it possible to upgrade your ECU without taking it out at all? Or do these just allow you to change your maps after physically upgrading your ECU? If yes, then can you actually buy the reprogramming box so I wouldn't have to ship my ECU off? Living in Canada, shipping could take awhile.

    2. Also, do 04 ECU upgrades work on 05's?

    3. My local tuner uses Wetterauer ECU flashes. Although their website doesn't list B6 A4s. Anyone heard of these or if it's available? http://www.autobraun.com

    Thanks!

    1. I just did my Revo upgrade in Van. It took the guy 15 min to flash the ECU via the OBDII port. He disconnected the fan and nothing else. Where are you in Canada?? They are many "local" or close tuner that would do chipping.
    2. Traditionally, ECU doesn't work across model years. I doubt the 05 is going to change that tradition.
    3. Not many people uses Wetterauer that I heard of. Mostly a European company. APR, and Revo have many dealer across Canada.
    GoodLuck

    Thanks for the help!

You're right, I just assumed everything was only in the US. I did a dealer search and lo and behold there's a revo dealer in Edmonton. Hooray. Now I wonder how long it takes for 2005 flashes. I'm very close to buying a new 2005 1.8T but only if I can make it faster than my current BMW 328ci. (193hp, 206tq)
