    K04 installation Q's. / issue

    Guys please help.
I picked up a K04 kit recently and was testing out the chip, but the car won't start and the check light does not show while the key is in the ignition.

During the process, I also removed the entire chip and board off the main PC board of the ECU. I can plug it back in in either direction and it will fit.

My question does it matter which direction it goes in because I can't tell which position was the original position. ALso will it mess anthing up if I plug it in the wrong way backwards/forwards.

Please help. If I do this right and the car still does not want to start, what does that mean? Messed up board or messed up chip? BTW, I also have a stock program socketed chip that I've plugged in that works on the ECU so I know it is not ECU that is faulty.

Sounds like a bad chip I had the same issue when I went K04 and it turned out that I had a cold solder joint...I couldn't even get my stock chip to work though so I'm guessing the chip is toast in your case.

I plugged my stock chip back on and it was able to start after I flipped it around. I think I'm giong to try to do that again with teh K04 chip and hopefully it will work out. Fingers Crossed**

    A4 with a Carburator? WTF

haha, i had a problem like this two days ago. I had to play withthe throttly while I started it.

Turns out my O2s are so out of wack, the new ECU didn't know what to give it for GAS. So funny, it was like a Carburated A4 lol

So how did you fix it? Was it due to putting it in backwards or...?

I had to play with the throttly as I started it. Then I let it run for 15 minutes just to let the comp adapt.

    To people with a K04,

When you installed the turbo did you remove the front bumper, lights or just work from above the car?

I worked from above. I did'nt even pull the cat out . You will need to get to the bottom of the care to drain the oil and to discounect the oil line that goes from the turbo to the oil pan.

I haven't installed the K04 yet, but when I swapped out the K03, there was no need to remove anything that you mentioned.

    Cool!

I just looks so tight in there but when the airbox etc. is removed there sould be plenty of room.

I should have access to a hoist anyway to get under the car.

What oil do you recommend for the engine and gear box?

I believe it takes 3-4 hours. I'll find out when I have to install mine, but that's what I heard and read from other posts.

I ordered taht ECS K04 install kit. Now I just have to find plugs for this setup and double check that chip issue

It took me 4 hours but that was my first time and I trouble getting a coolant hose clamp off. I've heard of some guys taking as much as 8-12 hours I guess it depends on your skill level and if you run into any trouble.

Kam1200, I ordered mine from ECS too.
You know when they are expecting them?

I think the Passat takes longer because the turbo is at the back of the engine.

I also ordered mine that day too.
Status says wire transfer and no UPS traking number has been issued, it says pending.

    What's going on with them!
I can understand that they have the turbo on back orde but they could inform me or reply to my emails.
