whats up...i just picked up my a4 and im worried already. when i got home i noticed the car was sounding nasty when it was ideling in my garage. im hoping its just the timing belt. i have a 6,000 mile warrenty on the car so that helps me breath easier. the car has 65k ne other reason it would make that noise?

thankyou anthony for activating my account.

If you bought the car at 65k I bet a TB service has already been done. Did you buy from an Audicenter or just used car lot? As for 3k+ for the job that is really steep, I would source the parts from ECStuning.com and DIY anyways

Take it back to the dealer and let them deal with it.

manual says TB should be done at 80k, so if the car did not belong to an enthieuist (sp?) i'd get that done NOW.

From what I've noticed, a LOT of used cars being sold are from the 55K to 90K mileage range which suggests to me that people get rid of their A4's right before they should replace the timing belt. Unless you know for a fact that it was done beforehand, you should have it done. Water pump, tensioner, and maybe snub mount all at the same time.

And timing belt IS a big deal. My mechanic told me horror stories of cars that let them break. 3K would be a conservative estimate.

I'm getting mine done next week. Depending on the shop and how many parts they actually replace, it should run your $675-850 installed.

I bought mine at 40K and had to replace the water pump a month later, also got the belts changed at the same time, cost about 800 at the dealership, unless you got it from "shady Autos" go back to the dealer and make it his problem, or at least partially his problem
This is one expensive glass of lemonade

should be right around $850 w/ everything... water pump, timing belt, all other belts and some of the pulleys that wear with normal use and thermostat.
