I've heard it's awesome. So, I went to the store to rent it. On the way to the counter, I read the back cover: "This movie is in Portugese with English subtitles."

I immediately returned it to the shelf. I watch movies so I don't have to read.

Are the subtitles annoying, or is it not that bad?

I haven't seen this movie. I have seen other movies though, "Life is Beautiful," and the Passion... After a few minutes of reading the subtitles virtually vanish.

Unless you can't read, then the movie won't make much sence anyway...

Personally I like subtitles more than dubbed english.

my thoughts exactly!!

the only dubbed movies i'll watch are old old old school kung-fu, but thats just for humor's sake.

but yeah city of god is an awesome movie!!! (cant believe it took u this long to watch it JP)...

i love his direction and story telling!!
