I was thinking about getting REVO'ed or GIAC'ed with my 03 1.8T... i live in the South Bay (San Jose to be exact) and I was wondering if anyone had recommendations on where I should take my car... I just got it last month and I've been feenin' for a little bit more speed... What's a nice place to take it to?? I would try to take it to DAVE in SoCal... but that's going to be way too far a drive... Any suggestions???

I personally like Revo better not only because I'm the user but also, Revo give you the viability to adjust which others chips don't.

Lucky: You will NOT find a better deal than what Zemun2 described.

GIAC has good software but Dave has an excellent reputation for his service and knowledge of the Revo software.

Get REVOed and I guarantee you will not regret it.

Good luck whichever way you choose to go.

    after much debate....

I just got the GIAC chip this morning at DynoSpotRacing in San Jose. If you don't want to wait, I'd definitely recommend going there.

I'd been emailing with Dick Chiang (the owner) over the past couple weeks and finally decided to stop in and get the job done. I've just got to say one thing: it's nice for a change when the owner of the shop is courteous and has the time to answer even the most basic questions regarding chipping one's luxury car. Too bad there was loads of traffic coming back to Santa Cruz, I wasn't really able to give her a full test-drive. I'm still anxious to feel the difference in pull in all gears. Definitely a noticeable difference so far though!

have you tried both revo and giac? i dont think you're qualified to make such a remark unless you've ran both in your car.

Everyone is going to have their personal preference on this matter.
Both are great options and you can't go wrong with either one. Do a little reading and whatever you feel comfortable putting in your car is the way to go.

the cool thing about the revo software is that u can also buy the sps modules, such as the sps 3 and then u can custom tune it further to meet the mods that u have on ure car, such as fmic, or intake or dp or turboback or whatever. the other cool thing is that the REVO software is flashed on vs socketed. oh and emotionGarage sells revo stuff, and DSR, dynospotracing sells GIAC stuff.

Where is Emotion Garage located?? I'm thinking about waiting for Dave to come up on the 21st... My only concern is... well what do I do if i need to upgrade the program when I upgrade parts??? Will I have to drive to SoCal and visit Dave or will any other Revo programmer have the same knowledge to update the program for the upgrades??? I really like the idea of just Flashing the chip so that I can still maintain the stock program... If I get REVO and I have to take the car to the dealer, will they be able to detect the Programming or will I be able to switch back to stock to make warranty claims?

if you decide to go with REVO you can buy the sps units. this enables you to control certain functions on your ecu. like what gas 91 or 93 octane, chip or stock mode, and the anti-theft feature of REVO. they have 3 units sps 1,2,3. you should look them up on eurocodes site. www.ecodetuning.com it will explain each sps units controls and the REVO program itself.

In my opinion, if you are planning on going with REVO SPP, then purchase from dave at Ecode. Dave has been doing quite a bit of beta testing for REVO, particularly on the B6 chassis. Dave has quite a reputation for quality service and has a great deal of knowledge tuning Audi's.

Hmmm, I thought we were trying to drop this type of stuff. I think no matter who the tuner/vender is some people "don't agree" with their products or service, you've never bought from Ecode, but there's many people who have been happy and the one's that seem to keep attacking him don't have any of his products!!! So how would they know? Except Anton (Enjoweb) and so far I think he's happy with the testpipe.

I don't agree with everything David's posted of course Ecode's not perfect, but I know they managed to get some cars with no programming to finally run right. Talk to Zemen, Silence, they had no software to run their turbo kits until David came along, I'd say he knows what he's doing. Not trying to bash you or start anymore Drama, just an observation Joe.

    Best,

    Drew

You guys should give me both Giac, Revo, Eurocode. I'll take it out on the track and let you know what I like best :)

But don't tell me what chip I'm running when you change the program, so it'll be a double-blind test!!

i've rode in both giac and revod cars and i have to tell you there isnt much of a difference. in terms of long term reliability nobody can really tell because few people have run the cars chipped for tens of thousands of miles.
