I would think you could do it a lot cheaper. Go to a junkyard.

Wouldn't you need to stack two just to get it high up enough?

I don't think the pic will work b/c there's parentheses in the link.

Do it!!! I have a 19" BBS LM I've been waiting to make a coffee table out of. My buddy is in the works of making a dining table with shocks, springs and struts as legs, and a set of 16" Mini wheels to hold the glass up. And then maybe some control arms...

Do it Saturnine, it's creative and original, and it'll look SIK. All you need is a large round glass and you're set. I'd like to see pics of that, and when i move out soon, i'll probably end up jacking your idea. Sorry in advance.

Or you could just use the rim as a base for a stripper pole in your living room. It's your choice.

here's how i made mine. i took a square piece of plywood i had and cut it in half into two smaller squares, both slightly less than the inner diamter of my rim. then i cut a notch in each equal to the thickness of each the boards. once fitted together, i painted the entire thing flat black so as to make it less noticeable. next i cut a round piece of plywood. i used this foam crap they had at the sewing store where i bought my felt to give the top some padding. i intentionally stuffed the felt top to the board pretty large so that it would completely fill up every inch of the inner portion of the rim. the round top isn't held on to the bottom in any way, but the weight of the wheel keeps it firmly in place. then i bought a piece of glass from a local shop for about $60 and voile, my coffee table!!!

and the finsihed product, sorry the glass is dirty right now but u get the idea

yeah i did try it. didn't do anything but got into the way and tripping over it after coming home at 3am. upgraded it into a door stop for awhile then finally into the trash bin. (it was a bent rim)

that does happen often. when i stumble into my room, i occasionally hit the glass top pretty hard, but it's still worth it.

since i got new wheels, i can ship someone a very good, but not cmpletely round Mille Miglia Evo 5 to be made into a table. i'm asking $40+shipping bc the rim weighs a crapload. all defects are unnoticeable. any imperfections can be fixed using a metallic silver sharpie bc coincidentally, the MM silver is virtually identical to that of the sharpie
