    B5 A4/S4: Installing a Lip Spoiler

Things You Will Need: Lip Spoiler (BMW part number: 51-71-7-893-671), Adhesive Tape (BMW part number: 51-71-7-901-759) or Body Moldings/High Bond Double Sided Tape, Masking Tape, Wax/Adhesive Cleaner/Remover or Rubbing Alcohol, Cloth

    Mod Time: 1 hour

Difficulty (1 to 5, 5 being the most difficult): 2 – Relatively easy, just have to get it lined up in one try.

    Step 1 – Preparation
The spoiler will not hold to the trunk with a layer of wax. It is important to remove the wax along the edge of your trunk.

Using the Cleaner/Remover or Alcohol on a rag, clean the surface of your trunk and the spoiler.

    Step 2 – Installation
Mark the center of the spoiler and the trunk.

Using masking tape, secure the center of the spoiler in place.

The spoiler will not fit the trunk properly, so you will have to bow it slightly and mark the position on the trunk.

Mark both ends of the spoiler on the trunk with masking tape, this will help you align it when securing it to the trunk.

Apply the tape to the bottom of the spoiler. If not using the factory tape make sure it's thin enough so its not visible once installed.

Remove the backing of the tape, aligning one corner of the spoiler on the trunk based on your markings.

Working across the trunk, slowly place the spoiler down along your tape markings.

Once you have the spoiler in place, press firmly on it to secure it in place.

    Step 3 – Clean Up
With the spoiler in place you can remove all the masking tape from your trunk.

Finish off your install by cleaning and rewaxing the area in which you removed for securing the spoiler.

Now you can stand back and admire the new rear end of your ride.
