Unhappy HELP!!! Exhaust & test pipe install...

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I managed to get all of the old exhaust off. However, I need to take the down pipe & test pipe off. I have no idea how the hell to remove the bottom bolt on the test pipe. Also, how do I remove the sensor that is towards the back of the test pipe when looking into the engine? I need help asap. ANY advice would be appreciated!

If anyone has David's (from E Code) personal number, could you please PM it to me?

    Thanks!

Why not just unbolt the cat from the turbo and just pull the cat/dp up out of the car in one piece?

You gotta get that bolt from under the car w/ lots of extensions etc.. It helps to have a second person to hold the socket on the bolt..

The muffler shop guy had a LOOONG extensions in his socket wrench but he still spent a good amount of time to that specific bolt...

Same way as the other O2 sensor.. I think i just used a cresent wrench to loosen it..

Here's a tip for reinstalling them thou.. Make sure to twist the O2 sensor wire clock wise a good amount before rethreading the 02 sensors back into the Test pipe.. That way once they're all the way in, the wire isnt all jacked and twisted

How do you take out the whole air box? I managed to get out the plastic one on top, but I can't remove the whole big one that has sensors, etc. connected to it. I cannot remove the test pipe with it in.

    hm..From memory:

Unclip the wiring harness that goes along the top of the box, then unscrew the two philips screws at the top of the airbox. Unsrew the clamp on the MAF sensor, then pry the intake rubber pipe off of it by digging your fingers into and pulling away. Removing the heatsheild from the airbox is pretty much impossible unless you have a super stubby screw driver that i had. Then you can remove the top half of the box. (the half that has the MAF sensor). I dont think you'll need to remove the bottom half.

How do you seperate the down pipe from the test pipe? We've been trying to pull it out, and it won't pull out. There's no way to reach the bolts. Is there any way possible to pull it out when it's connected to the test pipe?

I am a moron. I will never attempt this again. How the hell do you do it within an hour?

I'm getting desperate and ready to slit my wrists. Or the tires! Any other tips, call me... 330.388.7612

LMAO... this thread is HOF material for me...

Never ever attempt to put somethign that's made for another car on yours is my suggestion. I had to be the first automatic A4 w/ a downpipe so I had to f- w/ all this crap of getting the cat on and off etc. But good news is, I finally did it and all is fine and I don't even have a check engine light...

It took about 2 more hours than it should've but oh well...

Test Pipe, Exhaust, and Downpipe all done. Pics soon.

BTW, the exhaust lined up perfect and doesn't stick out at all...
