Definately not. Its so strange, often do it moving a car in the driveway, but man its weird.

Hardest thing was driving manual in ski boots. Now that isn't very safe or easy.

Ive never had an issue driving barefoot. All of my cars are manual too. I just find it so much more comfortable. Plus I absolutely cannot drive in flip flops. For some reason they make me hold the clutch for so long.

Yup, I too had to move my old Honda with my ski boots on. That was ludacris.

Ski boots are just a bad idea but yes I have done it. I enjoy driving bare foot but have heard that it is illegal in new jersey. dont know if that is just a rumor.

Ive heard that rumor too in PA, but the driving instructor at my high school told me it wasnt true. He drives in barefeet all the time too and if it was a real law this guy would definitely obey it.

I think my biggest thing is that I cant stand having a sole between my foot and the pedal. The only shoes that I do drive in are my black leather dress shoes cuz they have a very thin sole. I think I should buy some racing shoes, they have a very thin sole.

my ecco shoes i wear have really thin soles so pedal feel is not a problem for me. Driving with ski boots on sound like a challenge.

there's a reason though.

like 10 years ago, a really good friend of mine was in a really really bad car crash (he was drunk, so his friend drove home and ended up driving them off a cliff), he broke pretty much everything, but lived. he crushed both his feet. they said he hadn't been wearing shoes, it was doubtful they would have been able to save his feet because the shoes were basically a mold for his broken bones.

I used to roll without shoes all the time, now I remember that whenever I take them off while driving.

screw that!! I can't imagine such a thing. I drive with snowboard boots to and from the resort to my place (like 5-30 mins) and it SUCKS! I have to unlace them and even then you can barely tell what's going on.

I drove in my track shoes once (spikes removed)...they were almost like bare feet...but I'll stick with my running shoes or casual timbs...

Driving barefoot is too weird for me. I tried, but I didn't like it. I always wear shoes. Driving in flip-flops was hard at first, but I got used to it after a bit. Manual SUCKS with flip-flops, though, especially with all-weather mats.

I really dont see what is wrong with driving barefoot. You have a lot better feel for the car. I wouldn't drive wearing sandals because they aren't secured to my feet.

It is not illegal to drive barefoot in California contrary to what drivers ed. teachers may tell. It is not unsafe to drive barefoot either, I don't know where that idea came from. Sure having your feet crushed would be a drag, but not as be a drag as having your head crushed, and who drives with a helmet? (except tarck/autoX)
I have driven with just about every shoe or boat, including ski boots, what a pain, very quick trip, and prefer to drive barefoot. Living in SoCal I hardly every wear real shoes, just Tevas, Birkenstocks, or bare feet.

Why would they make such a stupid law. Cops can barely see your feet even when they are standing outside of your car.

I dont understand how people think it is dangerous. Your foot can more easily slip off the pedal with shoes on. Atleast with your foot, the pedal is absorbed into the bottom of your foot.

Well my only experience driving with bare feet was after a huge rain storm before which I conveniently parked in a low spot and found my car to be in a 6 inch deep puddle. Through some bright idea I decided to not take my shoes off before hand and to just try and run up through what I though was the shallowest part however I gave up when I felt my shoes just fill up with water.

Well that was not a fun experience and I found driving that way very uncomfortable. I was interesting as I could really feel what the car was doing but I found myself slow to switch between pedals.

Went I really want to be comfortable and have good pedal feel I use a pair of running flats which basically look like track shoes but without any spikes. They also make a fabulous fashion statement.

I just drove bare feet and I can say that the rubber inserts of my Sparco's is getting me horny.
Thats a totally different feeling. I like it.
