Driven: 2004 BMW 530i

Now I have a few things to say about this car.

1) I dont understand why people got so up in arms about the styling. Yes it is different than anything they have ever done before. Volvo completely revamped its styling recently and I think they both made a change for the better. From the exterior I think it is a very classy automobile.

2) The handling and engine are superb! I would love to know what the 545 is like. The car I drove was equipped with tip. It was very smooth shifting.

3) I was extremely impressed by the headlights. Yes the headlights! These are the ones that turn when you turn the steering wheel, allowing to you see around corners while you are driving. If you arent careful you can get distracted by them though.

4) I was not impressed by the iCommand system (I think that is what it is called). This onboard computer with single knob pretty much eliminates every on-dash button an automobile can have. I found it to be very distracting while driving, especially if you just want to turn the station or get to the next CD.

Overall a great automobile!

yeah the Idrive system is garbage! period....... at least for changing radio stations you can use the steering wheel tho so that is pretty safe....personally i like the more refined styling of the past BMW's compared to these new ones but i must say, the seats are comfortable as all hell, and it is one smooth ride....
