About to scedule an appt for Audi of Livermore...

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Do i need to ask for a specific service mgr, or a specific tech, etc?

And as long as I have my AZ stickers on, I should be cool right?

Should I leave anything in the car, like a 6 pack of corona? : )

like what dusty said... talk to sam (service writer) and if you tell them you know those guys that hang out on AZ, then most likely Fred will work on your car....

Glad to hear that your service went well. My car is there right now and I'm holding my breath to see if everything goes well. They loaned me a red Jaguar X-Type but I want my A4 back!

(Wow... I haven't made an Audi-related post in awhile...)

ken - hopefully they remember who was one of their first service customers and they'll give me a prize for my next visit. Didn't you take a picture of that and post it on AZ?

Actually, AofL were cool enough to install the LATCH hooks on my 02 (02's didn't have latch, kinda suprising for a german car) as a no charge...

Hehe... I had my car hidden underneath an unassuming Chevy Cavalier car cover (a la Kia commercial) to prevent such vandalisms...

I had my car there for the 40k mile service and to fix my driver's side mirror (intermittent dimming). I haven't had the chance to check the mirror dimming yet (mirror replaced) but everything else seemed to go very smoothly.

All filters, plugs, oil and brake fluid were replaced. They even used the new larger oil filter (068 115 561B) which increases the oil capacity a bit. I brought 4 quarts of M1 0w-40 but my service advisor, Mike, to check the level when I get home to see how much more I needed to add.

Overall, my service experience at Livermore Audi was very positive. The problem-free visit along with "courtesy rental car" made it worth while for me to drive all the way out there.

P.S. I liked that a variety of rental cars were available but the X-Type wasn't all that impressive a car, Dawn. I'm curious to see what else they have in rental fleet.

You guys think you drive far to go there for service??? Even when I'm in Davis I make the 100 mile trip to Livermore Audi. I haven't been to the new dealership though, just back when it was joined up with Honda and Subaru.

Sam and Fred are the shizzle, they've ALWAYS gotten me out the door happy.

What the heck did you do that car? I got it on wed, and the seat belt was broken. I really wanted to try that one out. : (

The seat belt just wouldn't retract. I wound up with a 03 A6. The "sport" mode tiptronic is a lot better than i expected. I guess that means that I need to try out the new TT.

But I am SOO happy to have my car back. Now more squishy suspension, and when I turn, the car turns : )

BTW, Mike was the service guy, with Fred doing the work. I will DEF. give them A+'s on the service survey.

Huh? Which seatbelt? AFAIK, they were all working when I returned the car Monday evening. Maybe someone else broke it on Tuesday before you got it...

Anyway, driving the Jag made me realize how nice my A4 really is. If all X-Types drove and felt like the one I can't see how Jaguar sells any of them. I'd rather buy an Accord and pocket the difference.

Mike was my service advisor also. I don't know who the tech was, but I don't have any complaints about the work done.

    the drivers seat seatbelt...

and i have to take it back in... a new problem with the HVAC came up. we'll see what can i get now. It looked like they had another jag there...

hey, what do you think about the switchblade key for the jag? Its like a thin cylinder, vs. a flat rectangular thing... It looked really awkward, and like it would be hard to properly position the key before sticking it in the ignition. The leather was nice. The wood was nice, but I didn't get to test out the ride. The radio controls seemed lame!

Hmmm... I wonder if we were looking at the same Jag? The switchblade key looked interesting but seemed more fragile than the the Audi key. It looked like it could be easily bent. I wasn't too impressed with the interior though. The dash gauges are smaller than Audi gauges and not as easy to read at a glance and the seats had less support to which I'm accustomed. (sport seats in the A4 and Recaros in my Jetta)

The driving experience was awful! I expected a Jag to have a smooth, quiet ride... Nope... It felt like the suspension wasn't well sorted out and not enough sound insulation was added. There was also a groaning sound coming from the back when turning. It's the kind of experience I would have expected when renting a Ford Taurus but not something as supposedly better as a Jag. Go figure...

Just want to be clear though, my only complaints about my Livermore service were with the X-Type itself. I just know now to hope that an Audi is available when I go back for service.

Fred is out learning about the new A6 this week. He will be back next Tuesday... Talked to Mike, and he wants Fred to look at my car. So it will be going back in next Tuesday : )
