I think its about time for a new battery in the s4. I've been having rough start-ups, and when i returned home from vacation the battery was dead.

I was just wondering if you guys had any experiences with putting in a new battery? Do I have to go to the stealership to purchase one or can I just get a die-hard?

Also, anyone on this board have experience light-weight batteries? Just wondering what my options were.

i've actually had my battery fail 2x now. I'm on my third battery. I would recommend either an optima but from what I hear you have to fabricate a bracket to hold it into place as it's smaller than the stock battery.

I am actually having battery troubles on the a4. It seems to be fine but it goes dead if i let it sit for a week or so without starting it. I don't think anything is draining it because I haven't made any changes on it recently. The first time it died because I left the dome light on while changing the shifter and forgot to shut it off that night. Ever since then it dies over long periods...and no the light is not still on.

I know you can just get a diehard..or other aftermarket batteries because when i was at the dealer the service manager actually told someone on the phone to just go to a local parts store and have them replace it.

My Odyssey PC925MJT install was easy, and the battery has been great. About half the size and half the weight of the orig. battery. A simple hold-down bracket from Pep Boys works fine.

I've never heard of Odyessy, and 26lbs is pretty light. Thanks for the links!

You might want to email Funkweasel (Troy) on AW, he did a bunch a research on light weight batteries a while back. He is a super nice guy and will probably be able to answer any questions you have. BTW I have a GenesisG16EP sitting in my garage waiting to be installed when my current battery fails.

Thanks, mullarks...mabye i will try to get in touch with Funkweasel. I'm thinking i want to get a smaller lighter weight battery and then fabricate or buy some sort of bracket to hold it in. I have to figure something out soon, I don't know how much longer my current battery is going to hold out.

If you want light weight you should check out the Genesis G16EP it weighs about 14 lbs. or so and is basically as light as you can get. It's relatively inexpensive too, about $70 at www.gotbatteries.com. You might want to do a light more independent research on the subject because New Jersey is a lot colder than Southern California in the winters.

I have heard some good things about Interstate batteries, but I think they might be a little too heavy.

i think i read somewhere on AW that the interstate battery is the same as the sears die hard as they are manufactured by the same company
