is there any way to get the recycling bin icon off the desktop?

I downloaded this program called object dock and want to get rid of my recycling bin icon.

Recycle bin stays or everything else goes. Its the boss of desktop icons. If you want it gone, you have to hide ALL icons.

Yep. Right Click. Arrange Icons By. Show desktop icons. That's the only way I know.

In Vista you just right click the desktop and goto personalize. Then on the left goto "Change Desktop Icons" you can hide it there I believe.

Copy this code into notepad save the file as recbin.reg (or whatever you like) then double-click it. After it imports, a new option will be listed in the "Folder Options" dialog box that lets you configure the Recycle Bin icon.

To hide or show the Recycle Bin icon:
- Open Windows Explorer, on the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
- On the View tab, under Advanced Settings, do one of the following:
- Select the Show Recycle Bin icon on the desktop check box to show the icon on your desktop.
- Clear the Show Recycle Bin icon on the desktop check box to remove the icon from your desktop.

recycle bin is part of your system32.dll file... you don't need that file, just delete it.

unless you're using a 486 with windows 3.1, or some homebrew computer with homemade drivers, BSDs happen so far and few between.

i've been using windows machines all my life, and haven't had a BSD in over 3 years.

a friend of mine was trying to get a duplicate version of MSN Messenger off her new macbook a couple of months ago, and i couldn't figure it out for the life of me. the lack of right-click pisses me off to no end.

just use microsoft powertoys or tweakui. there is an option that lets you remove the recycle bin from the desktop.

I have a mac, and a right click... they even make apple mouses with a right click. I dunno, to each his own. I used to be a PC user and switched a couple years ago.
