No you can get a VAG tool from for about the same price and it comes with a shareware version of VAG-COM. If you decide to buy a full version you will have your own full feature VAG. Even if you don't you will have something better than what that guy is selling.OBDtool

I don't know of anywhere you could get a VAG-com for that price. For the cable and registered software, it starts at about $250.

I got mine from Ross-Tech.com. A very worthwhile investment.

Yes. I really don't see the point in getting the shareware. You can just go to AutoZone and they'll read your codes for free, which is the same as having shareware.

If you want to clear codes, log data, recode stuff, etc... then you'll need the registered version. If you can find someone selling the cable, then you could just pay $99 for the software alone.

Everyone I know that ever opted for the shareware sooner or later upgraded to registered.

No, you cannot burn it. You can't even transfer it from one PC to another. Check out www.ross-tech.com

There's really no shortcut for this, many have tried. Ross-Tech's software is pretty much air tight. And it's well worth the $99.

Yeah, $99 for a licensed copy of VAG-COM is the way to go.

I understand that the interface is where the other money comes into play but, I'd rather get the one from OBDTool and just license the VAG-COM software.

    OBDTool interface - $71
    VAG-COM - $99

    Cheapest VAG-COM/interface kit = $229

Any is a nice guy and all but, I can't justify $130 for an OBDII cable that changes to DB9.

I agree, but I needed the USB cable, since my laptop does not have the Serial port. www.obdtool.com does NOT offer the USB cable. I could only find it at www.ross-tech.com and at the time I was in a rush.
