Some Pics (and short movie clip) from the LA Sports Car Club Meet pics today...

Here are some pics taken from todays LA Sports Car Club meet today. The meet involved a ~150mi canyon through the Angeles Crest/Hwy "twisties". A nice spirited drive. We didnt have as many cars show up this year (last year's was just STUPID), but had a good group of pretty experienced drivers with some nice cars. Some of the cars included: Supras, Porsches, Miatas, MR2's, Evo's, and some Bimmers, and some other cars here and there (350Z's, half of which turned back to go home which is nothing unusual). We had just one Viper show up this year. (about a good ~30-40 cars total before we took off, opposed to the 200+) We had NO VAG cars, which kinda sucked for the Quattro guys would really make a good impression. Looking at the RSVP list of the people, I decided to bring the X5 4.4 instead and chill w/ the BMW guys (haha). The X5 is by far one of the best handling SUV's I've driven. The AWD does not understeer as much, yet has a little bit of oversteer, perfectly balanced. We averaged about a good 60-80mph through the entire canyon, and the weather was perfect. Came home in a little over 4 hours.

Overall, this is one of the better years, in the 5 years I've been doing these G2G's. We've had accidents in the past, with stupid drivers who did not know the limits of their cars and pushed it a "bit" too far, stubborn drivers who will NOT pull over to let a faster car pass, and BRAKERS (oh man they are the worst). Every driver seemed to have pretty good control of their vehicles, and was super cool and courteous(including the EVO owners..haha).

Below are some pics of the meet, I'm sure Mani at T66MKIV.com will be posting some on his site soon.

This is a pic of my car coming out of a sharp 25MPH turn, nearly sideways. The owner in the Carrera was VERY surprised my SUV was able to keep up this far, we've been at it for the past 20+ miles. :)

And here are also some SHORT clips of the drive, due to the size of my POS memory stick. Will kinda make you dizzy (Blair Witch Project in filmed in a car...haha) BTW... the girl screaming for her dear life was my GF.

Wait that M3 is the one done by A1 autobody in HB for the AKA Rally. That thing was kick ass when it left the shop. Never saw a wing though or the wheels. Post more pics of the front if you can.

hyperspeed if you're talking about the m3, the tips arn't square, its just a square carbon fiber fin that fits on each side of the round dual exhaust tips.

nice.. since you met in sunland, did you head up big tujunga the crest? i have a great 140mile loop that goes from there, up the backside of mountain high (one of the best stretches of road in the country) and then back down the crest to la canada where i grew up...
funny how the all show/no go owners here instantly just comment on the cars and not the drive involved..
although i must admit both the m3 and the silver porsche got overdone.. ;)

Yea... we started off in Sunland, up Big Tujunga, which looped around to the 138 near Wrightwood, then took Angeles Crest back down. Stopped at the Mile High Cafe on the way back. I think these spirited drives are NIRVANA to my soul... nothing beats flying through the twistes with the music blasting. BTW, then just REPAVED the entire upper of the Crest, it was AWESOME. I live in Pasadena, and my uncle's got his million dollar mansion up on La Canada near the country club, so I am up there quite often. Started off taking the girls up there back in HS....hahaha

But about that ALL SHOW/NO GO comment, Bro... I gotta buy you a beer when I meet you! You are the first and only guy so far that even KNOWS wtf is going on. The show guys will never know, for they dont wanna crack bodykits, or crash, despite that they have one of the best handling "twisties" car on the market called "Quattro". I dunno how all the RWD's up there made it. I was the ONLY AWD car (in the X5), which was also a SUV. :)

    couldnt agree more friend.
you're crest/girls/highschool comment is killin me.. memories..
those roads and all the amazing roads in la canada is what i grew up learning to drive on..
i've down the 130mile route solo uncountable times and a few times with a good group of quattros and dubs..
honestly, that back way to mtn high is so technical and amazing.. its undescribable to someone who hasnt been there.
the new pavement must be great. although once we get back on the crest, i usually keep that as the cool down section considering the amount of people and ponch/johns...
    you owe me a beer.
