I won't be driving my A4 1.8 T for about One year, Do I need to change OIL and stuff?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I'm going to go studying elsewhere and I'm not taking my 1.8 T along. Before I go should I take it to the manufactuer for an oild/fluid change or will it be ok if I just leave it as it is?

    thank you

you can leave it and everything will be fine. I had to wait 2 months to drive my car (replacing control arms and finding out i didn't have all the parts). After those 2 months i drove the car with no probs. how long has it been since your last oil/fluid change?

    Is it manual?

You should not leave your car just sitting still for 1 year.

Oil change so that you don't have acidic combustion byproducts sitting on your internals

Fuel stabilizer in a full tank to ensure combustable gasoline when you start it up and prevent rust in the tank

Put the car on jackstands out of the sun to save the tires.

New coolant may be a good thing too but definetely not a big deal.

Find a way to have someone drive it once a month. Miles are a lot better for a car then letting it sit for such a long period of time.

if its been 3mo/3Kmi definitly change the engine oil before leaving.

have someone drive it "around the block" every 3-4 weeks, don't just run it in the driveway. The engine/tranny needs to have some load put on it so the oil's will circulate fully and keep everything lube'd. Then when you get back change the engine oil again before seriously driving it.

    and everything bitterchild said.
