    AWE Intercoolers

Anyone have the McNeil/AWE intercoolers for the 2.7? I had a couple questions, and was curious how they liked them.

Any real world data would be cool, but I'd even settle for "It feels faster".

IMO,, they are the best dual setup out there,, just from what I have read. I will be using them on my car if I ever get it back together. I know thats nothing "real world" but. Call Todd at AWE sure he is biased, but he will answer any questions you have.

    Thanks CJ,

First to offer good advice as usual. Are you installing them yourself? Have you been down there yet? I'm curious if one could run a set of mounted fans from behind the IC's? The idea is to draw cool air thru the system at idle. Is there enuff room? Any pics would be appreciated.

Nice intercoolers, but too pricey in my opinion. You can get RS4 intercoolers from Europe for less than half that price. And I bet the RS4 intercoolers are more than adequate for 99% of the S4s out there. I don't think you'll go any faster with the AWEs.

Agreed, probably the only real benefit of the AWE intercoolers is better fitment than the RS4's.

That and the surface area is much larger. Sure most S4s will not need it, but that is one thing you won't have to worry about having to upgrade twice. There is not that much of a price difference, for the ease of install I would pay the extra. Not to mention they are built like tanks.

I can get RS4 intercoolers for $500/pair. The AWE's are $1200! I don't know about you, but for me $700 is a HUGE price difference, especially on a set of intercoolers!

CJ when you speak of AWE intercoolers and say: "Sure most S4s will not need it"
what (mods) specifically are you referencing ??

i have a stock turbos and a GIAC chip, but will be moving to Arizona in the winter (Audi Academy here i come) and am thinking about upgrading intercoolers.

also, do you guys run any extra gauges beside boost (ie ECT/IAT/AF/EGR etc )??, and where should i look???

You probably won't see much difference between the RS4s and AWEs. But being in AZ you can't be too cool you know?

Well they are 57% larger than RS4 coolers. They mount 10 times easier. And the materials and welds are top notch. ECS has the RS4s for $795. $500 is pretty cheap, I imagine you are talking about buying used? Whatever to each his own. I am still buying them and installing them. They are the most effecient cooler out there for the S4 other than that FMIC that some company was making I saw them for 3K. And it didn't have much more cooling area than the AWEs.

you'll need the AWE ICs down here. I run the X-chip on KO3s with a few other mods, and I can't even drive the car during the day in summertime. BTW, you should check out www.azaudi.org
