how to correct badly exposed pics?

I have taken a bunch of kick ass pics of my car, but they have always been foiled by the backlighting of, for example, the sun dipped behind a hill. how would you correct the exposure in photoshop with the least amount of quality degradation or pixelation, so that the car won't be so dark?

No tmuch you can do to digital photography. Dark images can be brought out, but not without a little loss of quality. You can play with the contrast and brightness settings to your pleasing. Once you get it to your liking, a reduction in size can mask the degradation.

Yeah, always helps to have a good photo to start with. PS can only do/help so much.

Always be sure the sun is behind you, not in front.

kinda difficult to do though when you're trying to get a picture of your car with a setting sun as your backdrop.
