has anyone changed the muffler only....

without changing the rest of the exhaust piping. Will it sound right without increasing the size of the rest of the piping?

I'm not really after the performance gain right now just want a little noise. Anyone recommend a particular muffler? There are a couple of magnaflow mufflers with nice tips.

Does that one from AWE get raid of that Pak Pak Pak noise at WOT ? I have the proxs muffler (i guess is the v1) on my custom system.

what's the pak pak pak sound? I have the Borla v1 exhaust and it makes the soundblaster noise at WOT. I'm looking to buy the v2 muffler from awe since it's a direct bolt on to the old V1 exhaust and I heard that it sounds much much better than the v1.

You could always remove your suitcase too (the mid muffler). That will change the sound. It'll get rid of some unneccessary weight too...

Just a thought...

Yes the rear section only will sound better, but as you stated, don't expect any power difference.

yup! who woulda thought to buy a muffler for sound only? weird...but to each his own...the piping for all exhaust systems is where the main difference in power lies between a-brand mufflers.

Yea, i guess soundblasting sound and YES @ WOT. Really bothers me. V2 muffler can go on any system right since is just a muffler and is universal?

I thought of it and apparently a couple of others on this thread. whats so weird about it?

It is universal and it isn't. It's made to fit right up to the old Borla system bolt on. But it can be made to fit a stock one with a few modifications.
