HELP! My friend Redlined my car right when he turned on my car (engine/oil was cold!)

he helped me install my Boostedtech CAI, and afterwards i let him drive it around...right when he turned on the car he started to drive around pretty hard and then redlined like 3 times, before my oil or engine warmed up properly; the engine and oil was still very cold b/c it was at night and turned off for more than 2.5 hours...
ever since i have been freaking out about it and it constantly bothers/worries me that it could have done some serious damage to my motor...do you guys think this would have seriously hurt my engine? how worried should i be?

nope. its not good for your engine but if its just once probably nothing will go wrong. good habits of warming up and cooling down the car will matter more than one night of hard driving.

well i wouldnt have minded if he drove my car HARD when my engine/oil was warm enough ( i think around 150 f?) but he drove it like a mad man right when he turned on my car! when my engine was cold at night! doesnt this do some extensive damage to my turbo and motor etc.? ahhh

It's bad for the whole car actually but what's done is done, everything should be okay. For this reason, I am very careful of who I let drive my car. There are just some people out there that you cannot trust at all!

I don't think you did anything wrong. Does it feel smooth when you start it up? Probably. That's a pretty strong engine! No one has driven my car in the twenty thousand miles I've had it. But your story reminds me of a car I previously had that someone did something similar to. Anyway, best of luck to you.

doubt it did anything. i give mine maybe a minute before i run hard. what do i care, its under warranty and i don't keep cars that long.

yea it is...but i mean what am i suppose to do after warranty is up? less than 2 years left...and im sure this would have damaged the longevity of the motor....arrgghh....i am so mad..but oh well...im just worried about the engine right now....

Apparently your friend has neither respect for your car, or you. I dont care if he helped you install anything, he should have known better as to how to drive the car. I have a friend like that and we all know he cant drive for $hit even though we let him drive our cars stupidly. We totally call him out on everything though, hes learned his lesson. Let your friend read my post if you want, he will get a clue.

If it were me with your friend, after the first time I would have told him to pull over and redline his thumb back home.

And oh yeah, your car should be fine. Just dont let him near it again.

i feel ya! well kinda..i'd rather have your situation....

i let my buddy drive my car....long story shorter...homeboy had to drive my car in reverse up a steep incline....say 45%? ok may be not that steep..but it sure looked like it...homeboy totally killed my clutch....i could smell clutch all the way home...then i parked my car in my carport..and i can smell it all the way to apartment...

I thinks sweettalker has eloquently stated what we are all thinking, which is you may be overreacting a bit. Your engine is most likey just fine. It is summer time and the fluids were likely a reasonable temperature. cheers! mike

Seriously man, your engine will be fine. My POS Geo still runing even I rev that sucker when the engine is cold all the time. Oh, I would never do that to my A4 though ;)
