so...I want to find a turbo that I can screw around with, but I don't want to pay a lot of money for something I may play with for a couple hours and never use again...

how much would it cost to get a turbo from a junkyard? anywhere else I could pick one up cheap? (I don't really care what kind it is, as long as its in working condition)...

It would vary by junkyard. You'd have to call and ask on that one most likely.

What are your plans for it? Also you might want to try calling companies that sell kits and see if they'd sell you a reject turbo without the kit for a reduced price.

well, probably just gonna play around with it for a bit, do a couple of experiments, then either:

    1) take it apart and look at it
    2) try to put it on something (turbo go-kart anyone?)
    3) gas turbine engine

whatever happens to it in the end, I don't really see myself paying more than $50-60 for it, I don't think I would get enough use out of it to warrant paying more than that...

I think $50 should deffinately get you one. One of my buddies was putting togeter turbo kits for Hondas a couple of years ago and he was picking up mitsu. turbos off of ebay for less than $50.
