Yikes, so my mechanic checks my brakes yesterday, he said i need to change the pads and the dics too, i would like to get the cross drill ones from Awe-tuning, but are they realy that much better than the stock ones? any of you guys with cross drill ones, same size as stocks, any improvements, i need brakes fast.

if you are going to be doin mostly street driving i would recommend getting mintex red box pads as they heat up a little better than hawkpads do.... if you are gonna track the car it might not hurt to go with the hawks.... they just chatter at high speed alot more than other pads because they are more track worthy and see less fade under a great deal of hard braking and abuse.

as for cross drilled you might wanna check to see if your local brake place will turn cross drilled rotors.... most will not turn them and even when they do many times the surface will not come out right (scoring from the blade around the holes). you would want to get slotted rotors over cross drilled anyways.

at this point i am the same as you so i chose to use mintex and i couldnt be happier with the choice as the brakes are much more responsive then the hawks in regards to warm up time. the cars i have driven that have hawks under hard braking from high speeds on the street you have to pump the brakes a little or they will chatter and feel like your rotors are warped.

pure motorsport has them... check that place out they have powerslots too if you want those.... i just use the stock rotors as i am going to get a BBK so i am over upgrading the stock stuff.... that and slotted and cross-drilled make your pads wear out faster.

If you are going with OEM fit don't got for pricy things, no need. a cross drilled OEM size rotor isn't going to imporve stopping much more(if even) cause, with the drills in your rotor, you are loseing surface area when the pad presses against the rotor.

Since you are just a daily driving, i would say go with slotted or just reg. cause you won't be loseing so much surface area, and plus your rotors arn't going to get that hot that you will need breathing holes in your rotors. If you are going to a big brake kit then yes i might say go with xdrilled, but if they are just oem i say slotted or reg. I have all ATE rotors powerdisc fronts and cheap ATE rears, and i have PBR/Axxis metal master pads. Everything came to $275, and i did the installation myself.

i have the awe set-up (x-drilled) had c-tech race pads before they were great but i went through 2 sets of the x-drilled. i just got my third set of them very cheap rotors (130 pair) and opted for the red box pads. make sure you chamfer(spelling) the edge of the pads or you might get a loud squeal as i did. i used a dremel sanding drum and they are as quiet as could be now. just my experience.

Ok so cross drill rotors the same size as stocks are not much better plus more expensive, thanks guys, i will just go with the oem set up, but if i put an S4 motor i sure will need some brembos to stop the beast.
