    Spark plug help...

My local Autozone did not have NGK BKR6E's or the Denso K20's that I had been recommended. The lady told me she didnt know much about spark plugs, but recommended Bosch Platinum 4201's as a replacement because they cross-referenced the NGK BKR6E's.

I thought I wanted to get away from the Platinums, but I bought them anyways so that I could look them up, and see what you all thought.

Is this plug going to help with my Revo surging, or do I want to bring them back and go elsewhere? Please help!!

Utilizing spark plugs to fix surging problems is a ban-aid solution. If you're having probs with you're software i'd let Revo get it right for you. With regards to the spark plugs, those are two excellent choices. As i'm sure you know, copper is one of the best conductors (far better than platinum or iridium) but it does not last long, hence the reason for long life plugs. Copper plugs also burn approximately 40 degrees cooler than platinum or iridium so there is no need to step down in heat range until your pusing 250hp or so. I'd go with either one of those plugs and swap them out every 10K miles. I buy mine in bulk from www.sparkplugs.com cheers! mike

I've been using NGK BKR7E's for the last few thousand miles. I think that I might try and go back to the BKR6E's for my next set again. I am noticing a bit of low end rattling that might be due to the BKR7E's being too cold (even with the larger turbo). I used the BKR6E's with my GIAC software alone and they worked very well. I change them every 5000 miles along with my oil, they're cheap at only 1.59 each.

You'll need to order them at some stores. Both the BKR6E's and BKR6E-11's are fine. Just regap them to 0.032".

Problem is Revo is no where near me (Dave is in CA, I'm in MA). Sending ECU back and forth for adjustments isnt going to work. Because I run 93 octane, David mentioned he adjusted the timing and boost I believe. I Think my car is surging more when the car has been driving harder. The sparkplug idea seems to make sense with the pre-detonation due to the plugs running hotter.

I am going to track down some NGK's and see if that helps.

Talk to David to see what he recommends. He uses Bosch coppers w/his E05 kit but I don't know the part number offhand. I'm sure you can find whatever he recommends locally. But Autozone s*cks for part selection, I had to go to a NAPA store to find the right NGK's when I used them. Kragen or Pepboys may have them also. And yeah, take back the platinums.

    Thanks for all your Help...

I tracked down a set of NGK's, and they solved the problem 100% as far as my test drives can tell.

I also got my S4 brakes on. A little vibration, but Im going to see if it gets any better as they break in. If not, I will upgrade to slotted rotors as the stock tend to be junk.
