    B5 S4 brake question..

just a couple thoughts. if we can directly transfer b5 s4 brakes to b6 a4's, does that mean we can use direct replacement brakes with s4 caliper on our cars? doesn't sound like a bad alternative to a bbk.

you need rotors and pads that are for either the B5 S4 or the 2.7T A6.

I have tried two sets of OEM S4 rotors, both got deposits onthem very badly. Then moved onto slotted Disc Brake Australia rotors with mintex pads. The newer DBA 4000 series work very well.

it is a good alternative to BBK's, much cheaper . . . but BBK's are the way to go if you are going to be racing.

    Steve,
If you're gonna be doing B5S4 calipers you will need B5S4 rotors and pads and I would also recommend G2 caliper paint, SS lines and some good brake fluid.
Entire set up will be around $700-800 for front.

well what i was thinking of doing was going with s4 calipers along with stoptech direct replacements. for the price, you can't beat the performance. definetely not gonna be tracking but the stocks brakes are getting old fast.

B5 S4 brakes are 321mm x 30mm with a twin piston caliper. Stock rotors weigh in at approximately 21lbs per and the calipers weigh about 20lbs per as well. This is one heavy braking system, but again not very relevent unless you're tracking. You can get used S4 calipers for $200 or so and Zimmerman rotors for $200 and you're set. Stainless lines, RBF600 and some nice Pagids or Ferrodos and you're set. CHeers! Mike

I'm probably going to sell my b5 s4 hp-2 calipers if you're looking for a set. Just calipers though, no rotors (because I was going to buy sportech oem replacements or dba 4000's).
