Bose Audio Package upgrade for existing standard B6

    Hi,

I just bought a 2005 1.8T A4 B6. I am a little dissapointed in the quality and loudness of the stock sound system. I located someone near me that has all the stock speakers, amplifier, and woofers for a 2001 A4 B5 Bose System. Do you think I can fit these into my newer car without having to drill holes or do any rough install work? Preferably, I would like to be able to just replace the front and rear door speakers, and maybe goto an audio shop to install the woofers and amplifier if I absolutely cannot do it.

Also, is the BOSE premium package worth the trouble?

    thanks,
    Ed

Every one is going to tell you this isn't worth it. You can get after-market stuff for a decent price that will sound ALOT better. BTW the Bose system (from what I have seen) in the b5 is different than the one in the b6 so again, I wouldn't waste the time on it.

i wouldnt say waist of time i have heard bose and none bose and there is a big diffrence but if the old system will work in the new car is another question . but even with the big improvment it would have to b cheep for me to do it , cause like the other guy said u can get better for cheep . i think this is a option u would look for in a car when u r buying , not something to upgrade to .

i have it in mine . i love it cause its loud enough for my liking and sounds clean .

I'm not sure if this is true of not, but I heard that changing your headunit can also make a difference in the sound quality. I have a non-Bose system w/ a RNS-E and the sound is great compared to my Symphony.

The head unit is perhaps, arguably, the most important part of the equation.

Think of it this way, as far as an amplifier and speakers are concerned...

If you turn your radio on to a station thats kind of staticy, you hear, that's right, static. If you have an amp and a sub and speakers and all that, and crank the volume all the way up, you're going to hear LOUDER static.

Same goes for a head unit - if it doesn't put out clean sound, all the amps, subs, crossovers, and speakers in the world aren't going to make it sound nice.

An RNS-e has enough "room" inside it to built a quality unit, and since you're obviously not afraid of spending money when you get an RNS-e, you get a nice setup from them.

This is all generalized, and I dont want to get into a pissing match with anyone on specifics... just the general idea that yes, the head unit is very important.

i consider myself an audiophile and own a set of sensaphonics.

    trust me, bose suck.

the stock sound system sounds much better, it just doesn't play as loud.

Does the bose still have problems with the driver door tweeter crackling and cutting in and out?

Anyone have a fix for this yet?

on my b5 i put a JVC KDAR480 if i remember correctly. it sounds so much better that the original unit, and much better than the previous owner's sony headunit that was in there.
