alright money order problem

i sent a guy the money order, but he didn't have what i needed (mis-understanding totally fine) so he send back the money order now can i just go to a bank or post office and get my money back?

just to make things easy on you, just call up your bank and see what they tell you to do. if the money has been removed from your account, you should bring it in and tell them it was never cashed and put back into your account, and on the other hand, if the money isn't removed because it has to be deposited frist before they take the money out, i would just tear it up (burn it) and move on....
