i have a 99 a4 right now (2.8 tiptronic) and i want a faster sportier car. now i guess the toss up for me is either a 2002 a4 1.8t or a 2001-2002 tt (hardtop). now i dont even know what size engine the tt has. all i know is 180hp and 225. i want the 225hp and then i'll upgrade it. and a 6-speed. but my question is what liter engines are they and also are they twin or single turbo???.. and do you guys like your rides or would you suggest the a4 1.8t. thanks alot for your input.

I'm not totally sure but I know that both engines are 1.8T but I think the 225 hp has a k04 and bigger injectors and all that jazz. They are both single turbos. You should have gotten a 1.8T and stick atleast.

All TT's, with the exception of this year's 3.2 model, are turbocharged 1,8-litre 4-bangers. The 180hp model uses a KO3 turbocharger while the 225hp model features a KO4 and beefier injectors, cams, etc, to better accomodate the stronger turbo. The 180hp model came initially with a 5-speed manual transmission, but is now only available as a FronTrak Tiptronic. The 225 came with a quattro and a 6-speed transmission and still comes as such.

The 3.2 is normally aspirated and developes 250 bhp, has a nice DSG transmission, Think F1 paddle shifters. It is a few hundred pounds heavier.

I have yet to met a 180 owner who doesn't wish they got 225, but I am not convinced the 3.2 is worth the extra money.

I am very happy with my 225. It is not the quickest of cars, but fun to drive and very stylish. It is fun on the track, especially after a REVO chip kicks it up to about 255bhp.

If I had to do it over, this would still be my choice. If you do not need a back seat, get the TT, otherwise the A4 has alot more room. The back seat in the TT is pretty useless. I can fit my 10 year old daughter back they for short trips around town, but that is about it. It is there mostly for insurance purposes. Assuming you get the coupe and not the ragtop.

Well I've had mine for roughly two months now.... and I can't stop driving it! I have owned various VW's and so far this TT has been a blast!

Good luck with whatever you do!
