Talking Got an E05 + FMIC

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Took my '03 1.8T to Eurocode yesterday and David installed the E05 kit, FMIC, test pipe and Forge DV. Install took about 7 hours, David did it all himself and took great care at each step. He even gave me a ride to work for the afternoon (couldn't take the whole day off, too busy) and a ride back as it was only a couple of miles away. Anyway, on to how the E05 performs.

My car had 12,400 miles, a 1.3 bar Neuspeed chip and catback exhaust prior to this install so no true stock baseline (some people are real sticklers about this so I'm gonna state this up front). But as G_A4 stated in his thread earlier this week, the car now pulls like no other, no more lag than before but just more power at all rpms, lots of torque, and instead of falling flat above 5k rpms like stock or chipped cars, just keeps pulling hard all the way up to the rev limiter! Speed just builds and now downshifting actually makes sense as the car feels so strong at the top end. Even cruising around town the car feels different, great throttle response, no surging.

David is very knowledgeable about the products he carries and took time to explain why he recommended certain items, why they performed better without hype. Was very educational to compare the new parts with the stock ones, the differences in the turbo, intercooler, DV, etc made it obvious why they would perform at a higher level. Don't know if it was mentioned earlier but new plugs, Mobil 1 and coolant were also part of the kit install.

What was also very positive is that David made sure the car performed properly after the install, test driving the car, tuning the software and verifying everything is as it should be. He doesn't just try to make the sale, he wants the customer to be happy.

As Villains (thanks, dude) and G_A4 have said, for the price of the GB, this kit is easily worth it, makes a huge increase in performance and I'm very happy with it! Thanks David. Ha, if this were Ebay, he'd get a Highly Recommended!

Congrats bro! I am glad you are happy with the kit and you are welcome for the group buy. I honestly had to set it up because I thought that it was such a great kit that people just had to try it and they would love it. So I convinced David to lower the price a bit just so people would be willing to give it a shot. So far all have been happy they did.

    Once again congratulations! Enjoy it!

And another big thanks from me to David. You really are a great tuner and awesome to work with. Great job buddy!!!

It will be nice working with proper villains again!

Congrats to you guys, I think our cars can be fast. There's nothing wrong with that! I'm not part of the E05 club, but for sure a part of David's tuning. He's been simply awesome. I was the Beta car for the '04 Revo software. It was extremely educational. My car has never ran better or faster. David was really the first tuner to take the time to help me out, I call on him frequently about a product that I just have to buy, and he's saved me so much money and time with his honesty! To me it doesn't matter what the product is as long as it performs and the tuner takes care of you, David has delivered on both.

Soon I'll be going with APR's stage 3 and can't wait, David thinks it will be a great kit as well he knows what a GT28RS can do, even though he doesn't sell a Stage 3, at least not yet, hint, hint, he's honest about it, I can't say that about some other tuners I've talked to about what kit to get.

Hmmmm, maybe I'll do the E05 in the meantime, I wonder how she'll perform on a Front "trash", alot lighter than you Quattro guys.

A4Ncar, Darryl, do you see!!! Get the E05 my friend and that FMIC!!!!

    Skip,

Sorry it took so long to respond to your question. I spoke with them today, It should be out for mass release at the end of September. The tuning is done, just some of the silcone tubing needs to be completed. They are retaining the stock box, N75 and emissions, so all of that has to be finalized. They're crazy busy on the 1.8t challenge so that has most likely slowed them down a bit. But it's worth the wait, everything bolts up, the hardware will be very nice, I'll keep you posted, I'm hoping to get mine soon.

So after the kit is installed, does the kit require some extra "tuning" for maximum power? I ask, because for those people not lucky enough to live in CA, will it be a problem finding a local tuner who will actually have the know how to figure it out?

    Congrats gearhead btw!

    Rich,

They're giving me a file for 91, however with the V-tune I will be able to adjust the timing, etc. Timing is the real issue with the octane difference. Otherwise it's the same file as 93. You decided yet on what you're gonna go with?

LOL, yeah I was talking about hte Revo, but your info is good too! So I assume if you get the Vtune or the SPS3, you'll need a VAG-com to bea ble to read data off the car realtime and adjust accordingly?

As for which kit? Still haven't decided nor have I accumulated the wealth to buy the kit yet.. so probably a next year thing.

    Candidates:

REVO EO5 (maybe GT28rs if david ever releases?)
    APR GT28
    Dahlback K26
    MTM Stg 4

We'll see. Depends on who is most friendly towards the 91 octane crowd and how it works out.

No standstill, not till I get those tires. I think the E05 might just stay with your fat arss Quattro. You know what a standstill would be fine. We gotta ask Dave if he'll do the E05 on my car.

    Rich,

You're a doctor damn it!!! You have the $$$. I wish David had a kit but there is so much R&D, and not much money to be made, not many of us are willing to dish out over 4K for a kit. He may still do it, I don't know, he got Silence's kit to beat an M3!

I'm really liking the APR setup, they've made a commitment to me so I'm gonna take it, can't wait.

    LOL DREW!!!

Well, I am a doctor, but I am also in training (ie in residency after med school before running my own show) which means that I get paid far less than most people think. I'm also married... and live in the Bay Area, which means that saving for a house precludes spending on big turbo kits!

I'm excited to see how the APR kit goes for you. Can't wait! The B5 APR kits are really nice from the one's I've experienced and really well done. I hope APR's b6 kit is similar. Hopefully, they'll get the whole 91 octane thing figured out so we won't have to go through that whole tuning up and down to get it perfect!

The E05/REVO sounds like a great kit combo and it's gaining popularity it seems. I'd like to see a MAHA dyno of yours to compare to Derricks.

Boy, how I wish Hoppen/MTM had this kind of chemistry that Eurocode Tuning/REVO has, to put out a reliable 91 octane upgrade and take care of their "high" paying customers.

    Yes Drew, I hear ya

I'm sure the MTM Stage 4 will easily be $12K From what I heard, it'll be a customized beast. But with the Hoppen BS, I've had it with them and anything related to them. I don't think that's the kind of company you want to support with your hard earned money.
Dahlback would be of serious interest, but only when they put out a proven 91 octane kit. I like Dahlback's philosophy with tuning and the use of proven OEM parts (used in race versions), it reminds me somewhat of HPA.
As to APR, I still have a bad taste after their exhaust experience. And the REVO/E05 kit does sound good though, but I'd like a bigger turbo and a little more HP.

Thanks, and yes, David read data real time as I was driving to verify/optimize the performance of the car and compensate for variations each car has. I'm not sure what would be done for someone not local. There wasn't much he had to do though, I think he has the 91 oct program down.

I took some pics of stock vs E05/FMIC hardware and I'll post when I get the chance.

that's true. dave jumps into your car and dials in the REVO software to your car. you pretty much mash major pedal and he fine tunes the program with his laptop. and if needed his SPS 3. pretty impresssive stuff.

I'd actually would also like to see a MAHA dyno run of our cars as they have FMIC's now. I believe my car is very similar to Derrick's--E05, FMIC, DV, test pipe but different exhaust. Think my wheels are heavier though. Weren't we gonna do a dyno day GTG?

18" Axis supermesh, about 2-3 lbs heavier than stock 17's iirc. I should just put my stockers back on and get some really good rubber! Wonder what a decrease of 12 unsprung lbs are worth in whp on a dyno (okok, please don't let the topic go in that direction again).

I was not using a FMIC at the time I had the dual sides. I now have the FMIC and I am sure I will put down even higher numbers with it. The dual sides were just heat soaked instantly and the car couldn't put down what it should have. Now with the FMIC I have a lot cooler intake temps and I am sure that when I get back on the same dyno we will see even better numbers.

I am going to do the Nitrous kit in another month or so. If you want a Nitrous kit, I can get you an NOS kit cheap, let me know.
