    What octane are you running?

Dave had upped my timing and/or boost slightly for 93 and im getting intermittent, little surging in 3rd and 4th.

I don't want to hurt the engine at all, or retard the timing. I may have him back it down a notch or two...

    Besides that, I love it!

Buy a set of copper plugs -- NGK BKR6E or Denso K21R. Gap them at .027 (my preference) or .032 (what most ppl recommend).

Your surging will be gone or almost gone.

K21R's are kinda hard to find, K20 is almost identical and actually comparible to the BKR6E NGK's. 21's are about a half step heat range colder. :)

Copper plugs are recommended for all high boost applications

If you want to read about why cooper plugs are better check out Jeff's (quattro527) post on copper plugs on AW.

I think it still is the definitive write-up on the subject:

How long to you find your Copper plugs lasting? I'd like to aim for something that will last 20k if I could. I dont want to be changing spark plugs on an oil change basis.

    Thanks!

How much a plug are the ones you are using? I dont want to be spending $50 every 3k was my point. Even if they are $2 a piece, I'd rather not have to change them so often.

I guess its a trade off.

They cost $2 plus shipping for a total of less than $15.

It's an easy decision: If you want to get rid of the surging, buy them. If you are willing to live with it, don't.

I'm on my first set but I'm planning to change them every 5K miles.

not to beat a dead horse, but why would you plan on changing them every 5K?

Are you assuming the car will start to surge again, or will you remove them, and inspect to see how clean they are?

Copper plugs don't last nearly as long as platinums. I guess I'll take them out @ 5k, check them to see how they look, and decide if a change is necessary.

I did change my plugs yesterday. World of difference, car is smooth once again.

I'll have to see how they hold up. I also got my S4 brakes on, debating swapping new DBA rotors now too.

Call up Monarch Products or visit them at www.sparkplugs.com. They sell the BKR6E plugs for around $2.00 a pop, and if you order quantity (box of 10+), they have some price breaks. I have boxes of the BKR7E (colder) in my garage. Changing plugs takes just minutes (3 minutes lasttime I timed myself, minus time it takes to gap). Longevity-wise, I'd say 5k is the most you want to go before the spark quality and performance start deteriorating. (I change mines every 2500k along with oil, though some may think it's overkill..hehe).

    Good luck!

Thanks.. I got them locally at lappens for like $2.22. Hopefully I'll get at least 5k out of them, but until a better alternative comes around, it will do. I couldnt believe the difference with them, the car seems to pull harder the whole powerband, no more little surges.

Wondering what boost settings you have. I currently have my high boost at 3 and low boost at 9. I'm on Cali gas so what would be advisable to get the most output?

I'm not sure I understand what you're settings are. You got Low boost 1 through 9 and high boost 1 through 9. You can only be on one of those settings but within each boost setting you can also set timing 1 through 9. So do you mean you are on High boost 3 and timing 9? If so then how is your car running? I wouldn't think that timing 9 would be very good for a car running 91 octane. I'm on High boost 2 timing 3 I think. Here in CO, we've got 91 craptane, too.

I'm using LB9 and T7 in my country as I'm injecting ron 98 fuel and the car is running great. T7 is max for ron 98 and I hope I can be in Japan as Revo Mitch told me they are using Ron 100 in any gas station in the whole country. They can set to T9 with no problem and this is only place in the world can do this. Even their homeland, UK can't.

Dave had recommended Low Boost 8, Timing 3 for me when I get my car reflashed with the final 2004 software.

What settings do most of you use? I will be running 93 octane. Does the timing make significant power? With my settins, will 91 run well?

If its marginal power, I may be indifferent to the timing adjustments.

Congrats. man! I have been running REVO software for over 10,000 miles, and it has been flawless. I will say that I do get some surging upon hard acceleration in 3rd, and 4th gears. I have an SPS-3 and run 93octain gas. I run smoothest on LB9/T4. When I want to have some fun, I throw about a gallon of 100 octain and raise my settings to HB7/T7.
