anyone ever hear of someone putting an airbag suspension/ airspring on an A4? (similar to allroad) just wondering if anyone has explored it as an alternative to coilovers-awesome adjustabilty, no wrenches.

it's done a lot in europe (that's how they drop their cars so low), but I would not suggest doing it unless you are making your car strictly a show car. Unless something has changed recently in the air suspension industry, airbag suspensions make cars handle very poorly compared to spring/shock setups. The car will sway excessively and understeer even more than it already does stock. This is why you don't hear much about them here. If you're building a show car, then go for it, but say good-bye to cornering and any real handling. It's a pointless mod for a sporty sedan

I think its a lot heavier as well because of the compressor and all that...

i didn't realize all the performance drawbacks. def not considering it anymore. just thought it would be great to raise in the snow so i don't have an A4 snowplow.

Get coilovers and get dirty once and a while raising and lowering it.

you know whats funny, if you jack an allroad up with the engine running, the airbags in the suspension will explode. I just found that out today from an audi mechanic, they by the way say the system is a PITA.
