Need help with spark plug wires

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I have a 97 2.8 12V. I just replaced the plugs. I had a hard time installing the last two spark plug wires on the passanger side. Is there a tool to grasp the wire to make sure its seated on the plug correctly? I can't get my hand near the plug because of all the metal hoses. How can I tell if the wires are seated correctly. Will I get a cell indication or something. The car seems to be running fine right now. I just want to make sure....TIA

when you seat the coil pack on the top of the plug you should feel it kind of click into place that is when you know its in place. generally if you can screw it down it is in place as there is not many places for it to go.

I didn't think the 12V 2.8 had coil packs? I'm not quite sure though.

yes, i remember all the headache at replacing those two wires. actually, just try to fit them in with your hand (i know that the clearing is very limited) but you will hear a quiet click and then try to pull the wire out. if there's considerable resistance then it should be all fine.

you need to disconnect the intake pipe to get a good grip of the 2 rear plugs on the passenger side.... if your car is running fine and no backfires and surges, then you are fine.

... and yeah only 1.8s have coil packs, v6s use real ignition coils
