    Hose to intake manifold

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Has anyone made or replace house to from the intercooler piping to intake manifold? The s hose looks like it really disturbs the air flow. I bet you can gain at least 5 hp with just replacing that hose with a better routed hose.

If you replaced yours, what did you do or where do they sell aftermarket replacements.

    Thank You.

I was contemplating about this the other day...I guess it isn't just me. Why is that tube to the intake manifold s-shaped?

Because of the orientation of the SMIC. A direct hose would cause a kink at the intake manifold and the SMIC. That's 2 90 degree kinks. A slightly bent S hose provides less resistance because it actually smooths out those kinks into one big S.

Samco use to make hoses for that, but I have yet to find any. They stopped production of them. I am always keeping my eyes out.

    You mean something like this?

This is on my custom FMIC setup, they removed the S because it was a huge restriction for my setup.

I wouldn't be suprise if we got at least 5hp with the setup mike-2ptzero has. Those S bends looks like they disturb the air flow a lot.

I don't think you can get 5hp with just changing the tb hose with a stock car. I could image getting 5hp or more if you already had a bigger turbo and or fmic.

    Just my $.02

Ill buy that. Mr Hoods car maybe. I think with the rest of us mortals we could benefit from some type of hose that was a bit more insulating for better air temps. That could be nice HP increase. Correct me if i am wrong but isn't that why samco uses silicon?

Any metal piping will flow better then rubber or silicon hoses. Go with aluminum, its lighter.

    Hmm.....
Now I just gotta find local shops that deal with aluminum piping......

Also, would aluminum be bad idea to use in the winter.....I'm in Canada, so it gets cold...

No, would be fine. Aluminum doesn't rust.

So, which one of these hoses would be beneficial to be made from aluminum piping?
I was thinkin, throttle body to intercooler...and turbo to intercooler piping
